With the Mesa and Peavey half stacks gone, I'm down to 2 small practice amps. My main recording rig is still just running directly in my boss me-33 and into my Tascam thru my jbl 308's.

not really a guitar, but close enough. I finally dove into the deep end and bought a professional synth, ironically called the Pro 2. been wanting to get more into this, starting with an Arturia MicroBrute and various software synths, and this full-sized beast was too good to pass up. normally sells for 2k$ but it's getting discontinued so I snatched one for 1400$ and it came with a 200$ Mono case! slowly wrapping my head around this, there is A LOT going on under the hood. I messed around with it for the first time almost 3 hrs without feeling any time pass. I'm sensing a new obsession...

Very cool. Looks very sturdy and I dig the black with red accents and the wood sides.

    Here's Dave himself.

On a same note, I found a vid awhile back of Trent Reznors massive collection of vintage synth, pads and stuff. Literally an entire room of some really old vintage stuff. It was all pretty mesmerizing.

I get lost for hours when I get into my studio pro software and mess with the pads, synth, oscillators and stuff. It's crazy.

that video swayed my decision. looks like the possibilities are practically endless. it's beefy too, almost 30lbs if i had to guess! i'm excited to start working it into my existing projects and maybe even start something completely different.

although now i want a Prophet 6 and an OB-6, but both of those are closer to the 3k$ mark.

Oh yea. I've been looking at all the other vids on the DS Pro 2 on the tube. Pretty cool stuff.
Dim the lights, light some candles and get lost in sounds on that beast.

I'm sure I've posted this before. But probably one of the greatest pics to me.
My friend since middle school playing my 81/82 Strat head Pacer custom in my home studio. Drove from Indiana to SC to visit.

Kick myself in the ass every day for selling this beast but it went to a good friend eho collects strat head Kramers.

    Miss them both.

put together a little mini board. Mr. Black had a sale so I picked up their mini chorus and octaves pedal. fun little guys but the octaves has a slight delay that bugs me.

A latency issue? What about moving it towards the front of the chain?

honestly i think it's how the processor handles the tracking. if i try full-wet on either of the octaves, there's a slight delay. i have to mix in the dry signal to make it less noticeable. i did try and mess around with placement, even as far as it being the only thing between guitar and amp.

I'm dying for a new combo amp.
Been working 12's and some Saturday's trying to catch up on things.

Still digging the 5150 combos but what else is out there?

what do you want out of it? i've had a Mesa Rocket 44 forever that i love. it was my first real amp. technically three channels but all with a shared EQ.

i really like the Egnater combos, you can blend between EL84 and 6V6 tubes to dial in the perfect sound for most situations.

I miss the tube performance/sound of my Mesa, it was just way to much amp. The Egnator might be a good choice.
I'm wondering about that low watt Hughs and Kettner head and a 2x10 cab.

Maybe a small stereo setup like a katana or blackstar.

those Peavey Valve Kings are nice. i had one for a bit. never had a Hot Rod or the Crate, but i'd imagine you'd need some sort of OD pedal to push it to the gain territory of a Mesa or 5150/ 6505.

It's a shame seeing several combos on fb marketplace with dust all over them in a bedrooms setting.

    Dust/smoke will kill an amp.
But I'm glad these people don't dust them off before trying to sell. At least I know which amps to stay away from.

Honestly, I played a combo when I was at Sweetwater a couple years ago. I believe it was the blackstar core id 100 or 150.

Not a modeling amp fan, but man that thing sounded good with hardly any time dialing it in. Looks like Sweetwater just dropped the price on the 100.
