Man that sounds nice! Wish itd cool off here. Did some datalogging the other day. Got a max MAF of 347.5 g/s with 87* temps. Scott said this was very good, and also mentioned everything looks nominal. After reading about a couple folks with motor issues, im starting to worry my pulley is too small lol. Also doesnt help that my moms FJ cruiser is also having issues now.. but its got 280k on it. Gonna do some troubleshooting later today. She said it was struggling going up hills and the CEL is on. Coolant was also low, so im wondering if its headgaskets.. if she needs a new motor ill likely swap one in and keep the old one and build it!

That's pretty good if you have a line on another 1GR-FE! Don't want to wish your mom to have those problems, but you could be the benefactor of it which is nice.

Where did you read about the people with motor issues? Were they supercharged? I'd be curious to look them up and see what's on their mods list. You know me though, I don't seem to have any motor issues and I've got the record smallest pulley and from what I've seen, the highest g/s at 410-440 depending on the gear

I made a video the other day so you can hear the insane whine and exhaust:

That's what i was thinking. Will be working for it if i have to swap one in so that wont be too bad. Hoping nothing's wrong with it though tbh..

Read it in the s/c thread. HenryP had a problem with his, then yesterday Packersfan posted up his was misfiring and when he did a compression test, there was no compression on cylinder 4.. He has an xrunner with a 2.5 or 2.6 and catless exhaust i believe. Not sure if his is headgasket related though

    Both were supercharged

That video is awesome! Love the burbling/popping when you close the throttle, sounds very similar to mine:D

Huh. Not sure what to say about that, could be the luck of the draw I guess... with however number of supercharged trucks running far smaller than stock pulleys, eventually one's going to give. I think I remember reading about HenryP but I didn't know about packersfan. Head gasket issues could be due to knock. I thought Packersfan had water/methanol. But maybe he doesn't? In any case, got me a bit worried as well

There's a local guy here who does all his tuning with HP tuners but I'd be afraid to have him tune a FI tacoma to be honest. I met him and asked him a few questions and he didn't seem to know everything that I'd want him to know before tuning my truck. I'd rather get the guys that tune my car club's cars to do it, they wouldn't get a perfect tune but it would for sure be safe

Yeah i think even within HPTuners, the tacos are a little bit of a different animal than most things out there. I'd go with your car club too, they probably have a bit more knowledge of custom setups like yours

Ya... mine's #3, full-on at 7PSI boost then the 2nd system has #2 and #5 nozzles with a ramp-up per MAF voltage. I think that's pretty safe. And 7th injector helps too. I dunno mang, it is still uncharted territory. No signs of issues for me though so hopefully that means I did something right.

I think thats a pretty good setup, ive only got a #5 but i want to add more now just for redundancy. I think you've got a pretty safe setup. Seems like it at least, you've been zipping around for a while with those small pullies!

I also wonder how hard guys with the issues were on the trucks. If one is always bagging it and flooring it/redlining it everywhere, it wouldn't take long for your oil to lose its lubricating properties. And the extra localized heat from all those sprints isn't going to make an engine last longer. Have you seen that video of the guy with the X-runner doing a full on bouncing-off-redline burnout until he blew his engine? He was about to do an engine swap so just decided to ruin the 1GRFE. The burnout must have lasted at least 4 minutes, it was kind of incredible how long he was able to keep it up

Ya, that sounds right. There are a few 1jz and 2jz trucks out there. Would be pretty cool to do, although aside from trying to squeeze more power out of the 1GR, my next project is the twin turbo Diablo (if I pretend one day I become independently wealthy).

Had a victory tonight broski. Did some troubleshooting on the FJ, and it was throwing a P0300 and a P0304.

Swapped the coil pack from cylinder 4 to cylinder 5 and the code followed.. So I threw a coil pack in it that came out of my red truck and now its running great again:headbang:
