I bought a dashcam after a drunk driver did $2,200 in damage to my truck, then claimed to his insurance company that I’d run a stop sign. Even though this douchebag was a repeat offender who’d been arrested and done prison time for killing someone while driving drunk in the late 1980s, and got arrested for DUI for the accident where he fucked up my truck, his insurance company was an even bigger piece of shit than him and denied my claim.

By the way, if any of you get hit by someone with Foremost Insurance (a subsidiary of Zurich also doing business under the name Bristol West), prepare for a lengthy legal battle!

Luckily for me, the prick who hit my truck hired an attorney who happened to be the owner of the bar where I worked at the time. Once he found out this was the same guy who’d mashed my truck, he worked out a deal where the prick paid me a nice little restitution. I used the money to buy two dashcams and upgrade the stereo in my truck. Karma really is a bitch!

And I will freely admit that my beliefs are a bit contradictory...

I think there is no excuse to drive drunk and that more should be done to discourage drunk driving. However, I also believe that DUI checkpoints (or any kind of police roadblock that arbitrarily stops motorists on a public road when they’ve done nothing wrong) are a violation of the 4th Amendment and thus unconstitutional.

That was a 1970 J 4 speed manual, sweet car! If memory serves me, the J stands for John Delorean.

Then my comment wasn't about you...the Chevelle made it through a lot of traffic, and we could see it coming. The driver of the truck wasn't paying attention...that's all I was getting at.

You mean that all these modern conveniences don't allow us to abdicate personal responsibility?!?

    I agree.
The problem is the punishment for drunk drivers is not harsh enough.

I swear, even before I got to the 3rd and 4th pics my first thought was "This car should say Death Trap down the side of it". I had a good laugh when I saw the sticker on the dash..

I picked up this vintage pedal car for my boy a while back at LBC vintage swap meet. I really loved the patina but I wasn't feeling the yellow so I had to give it a little attitude. My goal was to paint it but keep the vintage look. I did a few things to it that you can't see, the underneath side of the body was very rusty so I had it sand blasted, all of the moving parts were equally crusty so I found all new replacement parts,
the seat was broken so when I had the pipes welded on we fixed that, nowadays it's so easy to ad a bluetooth speaker with some oldies playing.. I also have some vintage style hot rod stickers that I'm going to put on it.

My uncle got me into buses when he let me drive his ‘71 a couple years ago, so I absolutely love this “5th wheel” concept!

However, if the top picture is supposed to depict the VW in the upper pic during the build, it’s wrong...

For starters, the unfinished bus (at least the “trailer” part) appears to be a 1970s example. The finished product in the lower picture is definitely 1960s at the newest (“tractor” and “trailer”). Also, the unfinished project is an extra cab while the finished one is more of a regular cab.
