Any value in "fluid-filming" (or similar anti-corrosion treatment)?

I'd still FF cause you can spray everything minus exhaust and brakes. Lots of other parts will rust too if you dont lube her up

On the can it says not to spray any rubber bushings or anything cuz it can cause swelling. Anyone have this issue? Just FFed mine about a month ago here in Spokane.

Is the fluid film sticky? If so what happens in sandy environments? Does sand get stuck in the cracks?

$30,000. and up in a vehicle cost. Spending a few hundred bucks in rust protection, no brainer.

I had a new bumper on the truck with only base paint on it. Undersides Fluid Filmed. Had to take the truck out in a snow storm. 1 trip in the brine. Went to use the truck 1 week later & the bumper had flash rusted completely. 1 trip. Under truck - no rust.

If there is water in your atmosphere, If they brine even 1x/year. Fluid Film, or Wool Wax, or spray hot oil on the underside of your Toyotii. Nice thing about the fluidness of Fluid Film is it will flow into the bottom of your doors & along the leading edge of your hood when you spray it in there. Definitely do something. I had a Tundra (not sprayed) rear diff rust until pinholes started to leak the diff. fluid. Toyota metal is … well not specified to last your lifetime. :)

I love Fluid Film and use it all the time.
    I'll be trying out WoolWax.

FYI, I bought the Harbor Freight pneumatic engine degreasing tool for $5 and will be using it to apply my next application.

Additionally, on all of my vehicles I spray fluid film in all of the duration holes in each door. Stinky but goes away after a week it so.

I'm trying out 3M Cavity Wax this time around. It's a replacement for the now discontinued 3M Rust Fighter 1. It has a lower odor (still some, though) than the FF... so much nicer for spraying in to areas like rockers, doors, and floor spaces that have some access to the passenger compartment.

+1 for Fluid Film - I also did all the interior parts by pulling off those black rubber "stoppers" all over the place and spraying inside. It does collect dirt but it's protecting. In fact, if you power spray the dirt off you are also taking off the Fluid Film so just leave it.

I pay a place to fluid film mine. They use a spray gun and can get in every nook and cranny. It make a mess of your driveway while spraying it. If you're doing it at some put a tarp down first!

Only downside is the smell. It lingers for a week or two. You can smell it in the cab.

What sort of place does this? I've done my own three years running, but would be curious where to find someone to do it professionally and how much it might cost..

How did you only use 4 cans? I go though about 6 cans doing just the front half of the truck.

I did mine with Woolwax mid-summer, and I plan to check it in late fall. I'll touch up, or do a complete reapplication as needed.

I bought a kit with the "professional" gun. It was my first time spraying any kind of lanolin undercoating, but it was a piece of cake.

Woolwax has almost zero odor, which is nice.

I would recommend applying it outdoors if possible. I did mine in our garage, and while it didn't appear to be over-spraying at all, there
was a very fine mist/coating on most surfaces of the garage when I was done. I noticed it on the windshield and mirrors of the Tacoma.
It wasn't anything terrible, but be aware that it's moving through the air, even though you're spraying under the truck.

Well, FF was on sale for $60-something a "gallon" at Princess Auto (Canadian Harbour Freight) so I grabbed one; pick up a gun when they go on sale next. Guess we're gettin' stinky!

It will more than pay for itself down the road when you don't have to replace the truck, or you have work done on the truck & they finish it up in less time, or you sell the truck for highest book value.... & you can use it on your lawn mower, snow thrower if you have one, ….
