can be many things. i do know of 2 tundras with cam tower leaks that have started fire. was your timing cover or cam towers leaking that you know of? shit sucks but atleast everyone is ok

 

They might send out a “forensic” guy to look over the vehicle to see what the cause was. Years ago when I worked at an audio shop we installed a huge system in this one’s customers Chrysler. Ended up sending him to a shop that upgrades alternators. They bumped him up to a 250 or 300 amp alternator. Anyway his car caught on fire. He had it towed to our shop after trying to blame up. I’m out there looking with the guy and this dude wasn’t real bright. I could see the power wire we ran from the alternator to the battery had hit the exhaust manifold and shorted and that was the cause. Originally we had that routed and zip tied up neatly. After the place did the alternator they didn’t secure the power wire. Originally they were trying to come after us for it, but afterwards I think they went after the alternator place.

Moral of the story a lot of those investigators lack knowledge/experience. Even if it was something you did, I’m sure it’ll still be covered. Just watch your rates sky rocket after the next time your policy renews

First and foremost I’m glad you’re OK.

My daughter was driving my old ‘86 Ford Windstar with about 140K miles on it, when it caught fire and was totaled. Not hurt at all. It was a blessing in disguise, as I was trying to sell it without luck and ended up getting several thousand dollars in insurance settlement over what I was asking.

Never found the cause, but this was the time of the Ford Exploder fires related to cruise controls shorting out, so I’m thinking that was a likely culprit.

Don’t worry man, unless it’s something you did that was deemed the cause I’m sure you’re all good. If you paid a shop to do something and it was their fault then insurance might go after them. If it’s just a build defect or whatever then you shouldn’t have anything to worry about. Then again I’m no insurance agent and know next to nothing about these types of situations. So take everything I’m saying with a grain of salt, or some muscle relaxers or something lol
