This may sound like heresy but I think GMs auto light function is the best out there.

Say you get home at night and turn off the lights you can push it to the far left and it will still stay in auto mode. You have to click it to the left after that if you want to disable auto lights.

Mine stays in auto mode always too. The lights only come on when it’s dark. When it’s light out, the DRLs are on but I can set that to be on or off in the daytime. I don’t touch anything, the lights just work when needed.

2018, no auto function. Selector stays on DRL always. They turn off once I shut the truck off. No fucks to give on this one.

Shit, thought for a second that you might be my neighbor, but then I remembered my neighbor drives a Prius.

My garage sits almost as high as their roofline so when I'm backed in I get a full view of their living room. I used to be all polite about it and not turn on lights until I was into the street, but since two of my neighbors decided that my side of the curb is the appropriate storage space for their extra cars, I stopped giving a shit about the little polite things.

Anyways to clarify the switch positions:

Off- off when engine running, off when engine off.

DRL- drl when engine running, shuts off immediately when engine off.

Parking lights - when engine running, DRLs on, taillights on, fog lights on if switched. Stays illuminated when engine is shut down. Lights shut off when a door opens or some time passes (I haven't timed.)

Full headlights- when engine running, headlights and taillights on, fog lights on if switched. Stays illuminated when engine shuts down. Chimes sound if door is opened. Eventually shuts off after 20 minutes.

Big screen is not part of the premium package (JBL is automatic dependent) - heated leather, sun-roof, auto-climate and automatic on/off headlights. Maybe some other niceties too

Just curious since we’re on topic, does anybody know the life expectancy is of the LED DRL’s?

Seems like there is confusion of auto headlights because everyone is bringing it up regarding the lights going off or not. This option, which seems to be on the premium pkg will as the title auto turn on when the sensor senses it’s dark enough (as long as you turned the switch to auto mode)

There is auto high beams also, which maybe standard on only trd or all trims 18+ (part of the tss system?). This does exactly as the above except obviously for your high beams.

It doesn’t matter if you have either auto headlights or auto high beam or if you leave any lights on (drl, parking, fog, low/high) all will shut off after the specified time delay. You can adjust the delay in techstream (possibly in the headunit- never checked)

If I had auto headlights, I’d probably use it and never touch the stalk but I don’t. I have auto high beams and with all the lights in my area they really are worthless to me (constantly going off/on even without oncoming traffic). I’m pretty sure in the country they could be extremely useful. But for me, I keep my stalk in parking mode w/ fogs on all the time and switch the lows on when needed

Edit: yes I know parking mode is for… parking :jerkoff:

I actually like having it off-auto-drl-on. I typically leave it on auto. But I can quickly choose to go completely off when pulling into the house or turn it to DRL if I'm in the drive thru.

I completely agree with people who aren't considerate of their lights! Your neighbor doesn't need lights in front of him if he is backing up.

I leave mine off, and turn them on when I need them. So if I'm camping, and need to move my truck in the dark, I want the running lights but not the headlights. There's no way to avoid headlights beaming people around me, is my gripe.

My main concern is that your dash lights, HVAC lights, lighted buttons would also be on at all times, and burning out faster. Have you replaced those? It's a pain. Of course maybe these new trucks are completely LED-filled, making it a non-issue.

Regardless. Running the low-beams all day means you'll be consuming headlight and taillight bulbs at a much faster rate, and what's the fun in that?

Love the fact that I have DRL's, but love it more that I can leave the lights on "auto option". Only wish they made DRL's for taillights standard too. Tired of seeing people drive with their lights off at night!

The blinds are closed, except for the foot at the bottom so my cats don't shred everything. The driveway across the street is sloped, so when the jackass backs in, it's annoying.

This is my lawn, sir, and I'm afraid I'll have to ask you to leave!

Speaking of that I’ve been wanting to know how I can fix the fan air lights that have been dead for a couple of years now.
