Thats going to take some work. There are a couple threads on here that have some tips/tricks to get it back close as possible. Some with some pretty heavy pinstriping. I gave up trying to get it after the first couple times.

Thanks y’all. I think I’ve been convinced it’s best to leave ‘em be. It resoundingly sounds like the juice isn’t worth the squeeze. Maybe one day many, many moons from now I’ll get it repainted.

    Agreed

Wax will conceal those almost completely. No sense in cutting into the clear, esp if it’s not the last time you’ll be pin striping it.

Lots of detail forums out there. Doing it by hand will take ages and the next question is do you want to spend money on buying a DA polisher or rotary buffer? If you decide to go down this route, purchase a decent compound and a decent polish. To do it right, wash the truck and purchase a clar bar to clay bar before you compound and polish. Next question...how do you want to protect? The original OP question opens up 1000 other questions.

Sure. It can be done in your driveway and make it look decent. Depends if you have the tools to do it or how much you want to spend

After you get them sorted you can keep from getting more by applying clear contact paper to the side of your truck, the fender flares and corners of the front/headlights before you get on the trail. It doesn't have to be pretty and can just trim it with a knife. When you're done just peel it off and throw it away.

I am sure 75% are superficial. Just a little bit of polish and some wax or sealant will get rid of MOST of them by hand. Your local auto parts store will walk you thru what you need. Your truck is so new, might as well learn how to take care of her paint now and you can keep it for decades...

My best advice would be to use polishing compound, then apply ceramic coating if you want to do it all yourself. All can be done by hand and results will be good.

If you want to spend some money and make it look almost perfect, get it cut polished properly and get ceramic coating applied afterwards.

Ceramic coating still will scratch from thicker branches, but it will give you best protection for your paint. Amazing stuff.

You have the best color for taking your truck off road by the way, so i wouldnt worry about it too much.

    Good luck man!

That's just not true. With how Toyota paint ages for the average consumer, me buffing layer after layer of clear off this truck in the Arizona heat will make short order of this paint. I'll let the clear do it's best, then get it sorted when the time comes.

I have a 2007 and it still looks good with normal care. You start off with taking care of a truck'a paint, it will take care of you. 13 years and she still looks good. You and OP have a 2017, might as well take as good as care as you can. I am not preaching, I just had a 2001 and currently own a 2007, and both looked and still looked great the day I sold and still own. Both are/were DDs in the Texas sun all day

The OP's question is if it can be buffed out and be protected. I answered. Paint protection will help it last longer than just saying "to hell with it, let it burn" type of approach

Cement scratches really easy and is really visible. Some will buff, but might have to respray some areas. My drivers door had some and had to be painted since some were a little deeper.
