The club was started in 1998 and I organized most of the rides for a lot of years. All my posts there are under my name, Brian Helliwell. I don't go to St Williams very often now.

This that and the other thing.
I'm pretty sure you can buy just the plate or get some made. The template is on here somewhere. Order weld on kit + plate and make your own bolt on lol

That's what I was thinking. The difference between weld on and bolt on Mobtown sliders is $600 us. There are 300 welders at my work so I'll have no problem finding a welder.

Again, what are wrong with these?

I got the diy kit, weld some mounts, drill some holes. Easy and i spent like $400.

These look even better with possibly less work

They may also sell all the bits and you can weld up your sliders yourself and skip their long lead times.

I was talking with a guy the other day in the Home depot Parking lot.

He had a set of weld on Sliders on his 4Runner, now different vehicles etc but similar design for the sliders.

Took my hilift jack and lifted my truck off the ground an inch by the kickout, no deflection.

Took my hilift and lifted his truck an inch, slider deflected a bit and you could see it was mostly because the frame twisted a bit under the load.

The mobtowns not only wrap the frame at the front and back but the plate that bolts upto the frame is in an L shape the will add major structural strength to the frame for torsional loads.

Long story not made any longer.... Mobtown bolt-ons will be stronger than any weld on sliders.

If you get weld ons, get the frame plate kit from Mobtown, and weld the sliders to that.

You know, if toyota made a real frame for the tacoma you wouldn’t have this problem.

If i do sliders on the heep ill weld them on, by far the strongest but most unnecessary for average person

This year was bad again. The whole point was flooded n had both parks closed for most of the summer. Almost complete water crossing past the road closure on hastings.
And that restaurant, now a cottage rental. Very sad

Ya, everyone is complaining that this is the highest water level ever...and it likely is the highest sustained level but when I lived there the restaurant was literally an island after a storm. Water surrounded the entire restaurant up to a 2 ft dry perimeter around it. Must have been 1975 or so.

I drove down Hastings drive (in a 1984 Cutlass Supreme) the day after the big storm in 1985 took out the majority of the cottages and spelled the end of development on the Drive. There were a couple that were pushed right into the Big Creek Marsh on the north side of the road...One cottage was blown in probably 300 yards or more, place was devastated.

Then there was the snowmaggedon in 1977. I have pictures of the snowdrift that went across the road at the bend there...20ft high snowdrift. Hwy 59 from the top of the Causeway all the way down to the old park you had to duck to go under the power lines on sleds. We were the lifeline for the few year round residents of the point for about a week or more...was good to have walk in freezers to store food that was delivered.

Alot of good times and memories of that place

KO2s are a bit sketchy on snow/ slushed roads, in 4H and pulsing the brakes i still slide a bit and only even lost control to a slide once last winter.
Hell even spun the tires today after it rained all night/ morning by giving it a little more gas :bananadead:
Frozen asph, they work great. Other than that - gotta take it slow

But they look sweet and work well in the summer.
I'm fine with em for now but might swap to something else.

    @Norilsk will tell you more.

My gram showed me pics of that snow storm, she was right on beach ave. This year you can barely see whats left of the cottages in the marsh there. They opened the park mid august so we got a chance to take the boy glamping20190820_173246-01.jpg
