I didn’t mean that they would deny coverage. I was taking about his rates going up for the claim. I’m sure in those cases their rates were effected at some point.

The fire one, I don't think so. The off road one, most definitely.

I think the real problem here is people don’t think their “beloved” Toyota’s can catch on fire. As if they are somehow immune to manufacturing defects, flaws, or engineering issues. Even though there have been nearly several threads of 3rd gens alone randomly catching fire.

Most car fires are due to a fuel leak. Others are electrical issues or mechanical failure. Lots of ways a vehicle can catch on fire. And every manufacturer has had multiple cases.

Think of all the people who were able to buy parts from it once it got all stripped down. JaCado’s 2nd gen was the gift that keeps on giving

Diesel vehicles have some advantages over gasoline, but it’s not just a small amount of gasoline that burns in an engine compartment.

Along with fires started by faulty electrical wiring, brake fluid and power steering fluid can ignite from contacting exhaust headers and then in turn ignite all of the plastic and rubber also contained within any engine compartment.

Fire often travels from the engine compartment and into the passenger compartment through grommet holes and boots for wires and hoses in the firewall while also moving from the upper engine compartment to the plastic windshield cowl cover into the ducting for the HVAC system in the dashboard, while then igniting all of the plastic, rubber, wiring and paper in the dash and glove compartment.

From there, the carpet, cloth, seat foam, headliner and personal contents can continue to fuel the fire while it moves rearward in the
    vehicle.

While diesel doesn’t ignite as easily as gasoline, I’d say that diesel vehicles usually burn equally as well as gasoline vehicles.

It was actually found 6 months later with minimal changes, color of step rails and a TX pro sticker on the bed.

Ah, well you never know what happened afterwards. Unless you still have the vin and try to run it. Maybe it got stolen again. Or wrecked and was stripped down for parts and salvage. Or someone here is now the fine owner.
