you could have had an electrical line that you put it in, simply break free from a zip tie or shift near an exhaust component or something hot etc.... just because it has been 3 years since doing upgrades does not mean everything stays put.

I know of 2 people personally that rolled their trucks offroad and they were covered by insurance. Both were on fire roads though which I guess are still considered 'public'. If you roll or total your truck somewhere remote then, well you're probably SOL

On some vehicles, gas fittings can come out of the part they are supposed to go into with the hose still securely attached to them. It happened to me in a old carbureted BMW while using low gears going down a steep hill. So much gas spilled in the engine bay that I could feel droplets on my legs from the vent. Had that touched off’ I would have burned before being able to stop.

OP- just wondering if you felt any changes in acceleration or gas smell right before flameout or anytime before? Curious if it was pumping gas freely into the engine bay for very long (as in a fast leak), or over time with a pinhole leak?

I had a 10AN Fuel line let go on my Camaro a couple months ago . It was in my garage and I was warming up the motor and with the hood off . As I was looking thru the windshield to the right front I see a fountain of fluid about a foot above the fender

I quickly shut the engine off get out of the Camaro and go to the engine area and see the right front of the engine and inner fender soaked . I then head to the back of the Camaro and shut the power off so no spark would ignite the fuel

I'm still puzzled as to why it didn't ignite as the alternator and header was wet with race fuel

    I guess I got lucky !!!!!

Let’s see if Toyota says this is normal.
The main thing is you’re okay. Best wishes on your next ride.

Our 2013 tundra had both cam towers leaking and a leaking timing chain cover. It wasn’t enough to drip on the exhaust manifold though, but the repair was $1800+ under warranty.

Hey Argo glad nobody got hurt. In addition to my 03 Taco, I have an 18 Ram EcoDiesel and so far love it. 27+mpg's and tows up to 8k. But as far as diesels don't burn.....they do. This engine is notoriously a fire hazard. Seems on the EcoD forums there is another burnt weekly. Mostly because of the chitty emissions stuff you are required to have on US diesels now-a-days. The EGR gets plugged up and overheats, melts the plastic intake manifolds then bursts into flames. You are at risk no matter what you buy. That being said, the 2020's will have the 3rd gen EcoD in them that is supposed to tow close to 10k, get 30mpgs and the fire issues have supposedly been fixed. Good luck with whatever you get.
