i like the Sport but getting tired of the harshness and having to dodge all the manhole covers.....hitting those will jar your teeth out.

Only 30k miles on my 2015 so have the stock Dunlop tires and original shocks.

What’s the best way to soften the ride?

Those Dunlop’s are terrible tires . Maybe that’s the issue ? Your truck is stock ? No lift ? When mine was stock it rode just like a car :notsure:

If you have a stock setup, tire pressure will have noticeable effect on ride quality. Even though mine is far from a stock setup, I keep mine in the 28-30 psi range and the ride is smooth. If you had any recent tire work done, it's guaranteed to be overinflated.

As above stated. Tire pressure is huge. Running lower psi makes it more plush but can also cause your mpgs to go down. And those tires are terrible

My 2015 Sport came with Bridgestones. The ride is "firm", but car like. I run 30 PSI. I have 33K on the clock and the tires look good to go for another 20K.

Thanks guys. I was in a rush and should have provided more info.

Yes, all stock and no lift and I keep the tire pressure right at the door pillar #’s....maybe a shade less

I have suspected that those tires might be the issue. I’ve got to put a set on our Outback this month and then can set my sights on maybe replacing these Dunlop’s.

Mine was the same way with the stock tires, once I bought Michelin Defenders the problem was cured.

I think the stock suspension is more of the culprit than the tires and I only say this as I have just replaced the stock coil overs on my truck to 5100's and after 1 drive I can tell a huge difference. I think the sport suspension is set up super stiff and is the main reason for the harsh ride. But obviously I would see if the air pressure will help with that. But I believe the underling issue will be the suspension in the long run. I still have to do the rears as I ran out of time last night.
Just my .02 hope this helps.

Tires are huge, but its still a truck.

Go drive a full size 1ton and your tacoma will feel like a cloud.... its also this attitude of "too harsh" why we get shitty stock floppy noodle leaf springs from the factory.... just saying.

    Good points....

On the 5100’s did you get any lift along with those and the coil swap?

Yes I did get some lift I only have the front done right now (I haven't measured yet) I plan on doing the rear tonight when I get home from work. But the Fronts are night and day difference in ride. It feels like the suspension is actually working now instead of plowing through stuff and being a rigid ride. I am very happy right now as I debated a while as to which way I was going to go with my truck.

Go to tire rack, plug in your stats and read the reviews. I wound up getting a set of Continental ATs. World of difference in the ride quality. I tried the HTs but were too mushy so went with the ATs. Bought them at Americas Tires. Great customer service. If you don't like your new tires they'll swap them out, no charge.

    Add Weight to the bed.
Throw an "E" rated tire under it for the spare.
    Metal Tailgate cap.
This will keep the hopping off the streets lane reflectors to a minimum.
