1 year ago, today. Turns out the forest outside of Seattle is super busy on labor day weekend, but if you're not afraid of custom pinstripes, there's lots of back roads.

Weekend camping setup in Bald Eagle State Forest. Had the DRZ on some trails it most certainly did not belong on using street tires. Rode 100+ miles of trails and gravel. What an awesome place.

Didn’t update our summer Sierra Nevada trip.

Drove up and camped first night so we could hit backpacking trail early the next morning. This was the girls second backpacking trip so we bumped it up to 4 days 3 nights. They did awesome. Then we drove down south to enter the Seqouias. Took a gnarly dirt road about 7 miles and ended up in a beautiful meadow with good trout fishing. Stayed a couple more nights then back to reality. 65508837-D19F-43A1-B967-4A104E3F87A2.jpg ABE010F4-AC4C-4644-B3B4-80C2411F3919.jpg6C43A6FF-D192-49C3-BBDD-D2D463A8285A.jpg6CFAFE9A-A359-4E43-ABE0-91924D70764E.jpg672E090E-1DDA-4C47-8A53-D27F78868FE3.jpg940032C7-2C71-40DE-9F03-C76D9BAF1F81.jpg3BB89962-9B23-4FA8-9E8D-082DF9C717AA.jpg

Spent some time camping out of the Taco this past weekend in Forbes State Forest. I had clear skies on Thursday night and saw at least ten satellites, with one of them being a "tumbler."
Those are always fun to track across the sky. :alien:

Hit Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in Michigan a couple weeks ago with my daughter. Great place for hiking and kayaking. And yes I have a ground tent and a Tacoma. Shocking I know. The older I get the more I find myself looking at the different teardrop style trailers. Maybe one day but for now I will be one of the few still using a ground tent.

When loaded with our gear it’s about 6,200 lbs. We use a Fastway E2 weight distribution hitch. The truck towed it very well. It’s not fast going up hills, but had no trouble maintaining 50-55 mph. On flat, highway speeds were no problem. Gas mileage averaged around 10-12 mpg, which I feel isn’t too bad for towing near maximum ability. Our 2006 Tacoma has had the frame replaced and drives like a new truck.
