On some mornings in some places, it doesn't take much to start your day.

What stove is that? Neat looking little white gas setup.

Coleman 533 dual fuel - I'm not sure when it was first introduced (maybe the mid 80's???) but they're still in production today. Mine is a 91 and runs well from torch to simmer regardless of temps, wind or altitude. Around $60 new on Amazon; Craigslist is usually about half that for one in good shape if you're patient.

I started with Coleman white gas stoves and lanterns back in the sixties and still have (and use) every one I ever bought. They ain't sexy but they sure work.

Very cool! In the nineties growing up, my dad only used whitegas for his lanterns and stoves. I've moved away from those sadly towards propane and isopropane mostly because I get free gas cylinders and isobutane is a lot more flexible in my kit.

I may just need to move back towards whitegas though.

My wife and I really like cooking with the Coleman stove. The one directly below was my grandfather's. They used to cook on it when the power was out. We used it for a couple years and have since upgraded!

I found this three burner on Craigslist. The seller is a collector and refurbishes and sells them for a hobby. Both are the same generation (late '60s). And note the original Aluminum stand (it's kinda fragile seeming, but so far so good).

And I wish I had a picture, but we just recently picked up a really nice condition dual mantle lantern that uses the same fuel, for free from a local Buy-Nothing group on Facebook!

Loving all this old Coleman stuff!

Your grandfather's? Dang, you make me feel old. But I reckon there's a reason for that.:amen:

Your two burner looks to be a 413G (Model# is on the outside of the case to the left of the handle). That's one of Coleman's most common (and popular) stoves. I have the "F" version which is a little older than your's. The folding oven is a nice addition as well.

The three burner is a great find, especially with the stand. Congrats and nice looking campsite as well. And thanks for posting the shots of the old iron in use.

I think the Coleman 553 got it's start in WWII. War department told Coleman it needed a small stove for troops in 60 days and Coleman came up with the original in less than that and delivered a few thousand of them. Been changed very little since. I think that's the story.

I was looking at that stove this week as well. But I have invested in a propane setup with a 5lb tank and a tree.

    Bad ass campsite BTW!

The trees and water surprised me too as my only previous trips to Nevada were work related in Vegas and Reno. We'd left Great Basin NP earlier the previous day and were just wandering northward. I'm pretty sure this was somewhere in the Ruby Mountain District of Humboldt-Toiyabe NF; maybe off 229?

If you're out that way, I highly recommend a few days in Great Basin; Lots of running water and greenery there as well. The shots below were from our campsite on Lower Lehman Creek

    Very cool
I'm going to have to check this place out. I'll be in that area later this year.
