Hello Gang, it’s my first Tacoma and I’m pumped. I’m currently running stock 2019 TRD Sport 4x4 6’ in black and want to work towards a total blackout with lift and off-roads, etc. Started watching vids for must have mods. Have some white LED headlamps and fogs coming today. Curious what people have done and what order to do things. Baby on the way so budget is reallocated (wife says that’s important). Do people do grill first? Or go for the wheels/tires? Badges? Tint? Any thoughts are appreciated.

    Welcome to TW!

The best recommendation I can give is really just to read a bunch of threads, look at builds, consider your finances, and weigh what YOU like.

There are more opinions here than members. You gotta do YOU.

Thanks! Yeah it’s awesome and overwhelming to think about all the stuff I want to do. I hear you on the responses. Seems like there is a lot of good advice on here I’ll weigh it in kind.

Congrats on new truck man. Get some weather techs and beefy tires- call it a day. Don't be like me.

Where are you at? A lot of local folks meet regularly. Nothing worse to make you want to drop $$ on your truck than to hang out with some SERIOUSLY modded trucks. Browse the regional forums, find a group near you, say hi, enjoy tacos.

Here in Texas we meet all the time and over the place. Bacon is usually involved.

That’s sounds exactly right. Hanging with modded trucks seems inspirational.

    Mine tastes like metal. :bananadead:

Welcome! I'd say plan your build before you start buying. Tires are what affect performance the most, but before you can do tires you need to decide whether/when you want to work on suspension, and what wheels you want to run, or if you even want to even change up the wheels. Plan around that, as those are your big expensive items.

I will say that for most, stock suspension/ stock wheels (with the vinyl blackout overlays) and new aggressive tires will go a long ways if youre working on a tight budget.

Welcome to TW. If you like your taco, I'll recommend to stay away from negative posts in the forum, otherwise you'll discover that you have a lot of drivetrain issues and that you just bought a POS.:anonymous:

Pick the mods in the order you want them! I think tire/wheels are the best mod you can do to change the look of your truck dramatically and also get the best performance upgrade (going to an AT tire). But doing that, you have to decide if you want to or plan on lifting your truck and then buy accordingly.

Go for stickers. Lots and lots of stickers. Not only are they cheap and easy, but each one is +5HP.

I'm turning over 600 BHP now.

Thanks. Yeah plan on lifting and have heard that 3” is a good loft height for this truck. I’m on 17” stock sport wheel now. So curious what a good tire spec is to fit that wheel before I can upgrade the wheel itself?
