Well there's a good chance I could end up in North Durham (Treyburn) before too long. But I'll do my best to add to the Yee Yee factor, not take away from it.

Yep, the x20 10k and 12k are the same winch, just different gearing. Lloyd runs the 12k since his truck is a heavy boi.

You getting fancy with that. Treyburn is one of the reasons the "city" has moved that far out. I'm a durhamite born and raised. Durham has changed some for the better some for the worse and some to forget the history.

That's what I thought just didn't remember 100%. Think I'll get the 12k when it's time just for the extra umpf.

Well, now that we discussed math, physics, principals of inertia, force, power seesaws and all that shit I feel y'all taught me enough to know I can now save some money and just get 800' of line, and 7 or 8 snatch blocks. Since it also increases the line speed I will be unstuck in like 3 or 4 seconds.

If my winch manages to shit the bed again, I probably will as well. That way it doesn’t have to work as hard if I don’t pull much winch line out.

I just think that new Gen 3 is the perfect winch for me. Price is not too bad, and it has built in idiot features a un-expert like me needs.

But I will definitely add the snatch block gear to my bag-o-goodies. That just makes plain good sense.

Just buy a chainsaw and you can build a flip flop winch whenever you need one.

I'd rather stay in UT, but since I'll likely HAVE to move to advance my career in the company, I'd rather take Durham than Boston, or god forbid Elmira, NY area.

Those flip flop winches are harder than they look. You'll get unstuck, but you'll be a wore out puppy when you're done.

LOL, an 800 foot spool of winch line. The multiple line pulls reduce your speed though, so you'd get unstuck so with 800 feet of line out, you'd prob be out in 8-10 minutes of recovery pulling:rofl:

    A couple responses to this.

    1) This is so freaking way cool.
    2) Randall said I can't cut down trees. (fucking killjoy)
    3) Now I know how they built the pyramids.

    :D

There's a few engine / wheel powered designs. That idea is a decently proven one.

Piece of 2x4 ratchet strapped to the wheel is another one. Works remarkably well. That's actually what the wooden pole on Russian T-72 tanks is for.

Right, I remember seeing a Willys with a sort of eye hub on both front wheels and in the jeep was a steel bar. You put the bar through the eye and tied off your rope and that was the winch.

Did some work on the drivers side. Took the fender off and there’s so much room to work now.
