Control freaks who want to have control over shifting.
My late best friend was a manual . In a real sports car I can see why, but not in a truck. Those mt days are over for my 60 year old legs.

I just enjoy it more. What can I say? Don't know why such backlash suddenly! But anyway, getting off the point here so...

Sorry, didn't mean to open up a can of worms there. Just saw a bunch of people posting they have to have a MT and the long lead times. Guess it equates to "having" to have any other option that's available like an electric switch on the side of the seat to set it once and most likely never press it again. lol

There's always a Titan.... or a dodge if you're real desperate. Blows me away that they take one of the best diesel motors out there and put it in some of the crappiest manufacturer's vehicles.

Soooo...when do we think the first allocations will actually touch down on a lot?

My dealer said a black TRD PRo is on the way and should be here "soon".

Good catch sir, I forgot about the fancy 360 Camera stuff, might be the difference in the 5k-ish and the 7k-ish being discussed. I guess I am using the word "quote" loosely, however its at least nice seeing some prices that theoretically are actionable. Ideally getting the build I am looking for under 40K would we a win in my book.

Well I think there is a pretty big difference between a minor option and something that totally changes the driving dynamics of the vehicle. Some might be willing to compromise on an option like an elec vs. manual seat, but I'd imagine if someone is set on an MT they aren't going to suddenly just switch to an AT because they happen to find one. Some might, but most I'd imagine wouldn't who are in that situation.

I just think that a manual is more fun to drive. Front what I read on this forum a lot of owners don’t like the current automatic transmission on the Tacoma. Many of the YouTube reviewers like the Tacoma overall but complain about the auto hunting for gears. I’ve test driven the Tacoma manual and it is a good manual transmission. I’ve driven some good ones and some bad ones; the Tacoma manual allows you to rev the engine higher and get more power/torque out of this Atkinson cycle engine that in my opinion could use more power.

I haven’t purchased one yet; I’m hoping to get a 2020 TRD pro in army green with a manual transmission. Honestly if a manual transmission wasn’t offered I would not consider the Tacoma. I’ve always been a GMC guy; the only thing I don’t like about my Sierra is the automatic transmission.

True. Plus the extra cost savings going to a manual over an AT.

Your math is better than mine eh? Sounds like I need to ditch my TI-82 calculator and upgrade.

Good catch here xJuice, thank you.

I agree 100%, except when it isn't. Bumper to bumper commutes through a work zone for example. I wish I lived somewhere and had a drive that was amenable to an MT because they are truly more fun. But that's what it is. AT for me out of practicality.

So, just messing around with building/pricing other mid-size trucks. This is what I came up with (trying to do similar options as much as possible):

Lowest price winner: Chevy Colorado ZR2 (non Bison edition) at $44,095
Middle price: Toyota Tacoma TRD PRO at $47,840
High price: Jeep Gladiator Rubicon at $58,195

Granted, each vehicle is going to be +/- a few options. To me, seems like the Toyota is competitively priced.:notsure:

You may try to test drive a 3rd gen manual, and see if you can get it into some bumper to bumper. A big surprise for me is how much better the stop and go is with the 3rd gen, compared to my 09 manual. Foot completely of the clutch and gas and i putt along at 1-2 mph. If you leave some room between you and the guy in front, it's not really an awful experience.

Another big plus over my 09 is the hill start assist. They basically fixed my 2 gripes with my old manual (stop and go, and getting going on these seattle hills).

If it can graph in 3D and solve differential equations symbolically, then it's good

I just need it to add and subtract. I get extra fancy when I multiply. Don't even get me started on division. IT GETS REAL...

On a serious note, I had to do the tougher math in college for my degree, but haven't had to use it since I've been out. Take that back, I did use trig one time to find the height of a tree measuring the shadow compared to mine.
