2020 Tacoma Teased

Now, that's not good. But again, people will do what they have to (or want to in most cases) to get into the vehicle they want.

 

I plan on keeping my Tacoma until it no longer economically feasible to do so. If something does happen to my Tacoma that requires premature replacement, I’ve got three things in my favor...

A good, steady job...

A 782 credit score...

A dad with perfect credit who’s willing to co-sign for me!

 

In England you can’t even get a gas Toyota truck. Diesel all the way...

 

Blame the EPA and the treehugging lobbyists for the lack of new diesel vehicles available stateside...

 

Diesel trucks such as 2.4 turbo is more fuel efficient than gas equivalent and diesel doesn’t take as much to refine so I would have thought liberals would like it? Tbh it’s more likely just that the majority of Americans want that v6 or v8 badge on the back or the truck.

 

It just isn't really worth it anymore, IMO. You have the initial higher cost (sometimes $5k+ for a diesel upgrade), higher cost fuel (even though somewhat offset by better MPG), and now the additional headache and maintenance due to DEF/urea crap. From what I hear they are getting like German cars - not worth owning outside of the warranty period. The TCO isn't really there anymore either it seems. Gas engines have gotten much more efficient and reliable and seriously closed the gap.

Also, the future is hybrid/battery. It doesn't make sense to sink a ton of money into diesel anymore. People want electric cars and as soon as they start dropping in price, more will be moving over to them. If the Rivian R1T was similarly priced as a Tacoma, I'd even give up my MT and switch over for that! I imagine I'll buy one more new truck and by the time I need another I'll be buying electric.

 

I hear ya but The German cars America gets are Not made in Germany , the build quality of real German cars is way better. Honestly, built like a brick shit house. I was shocked when I bought a 2000 year Volkswagen over here!

 

ZR2's are heavily discounted all the time here (OK). Easily getting them well under 40k.

I would expect that once all the newness wears off the Gladiator and stock increases...They'll be some yuge deals on them as well. Jeeps get discounted like Chevies do most of the year. Toyota...Not so much. Especially on teh Tacos lol

 

Yep meant German cars (BMW, Mercedes, Audi, etc) in the US. From what I hear they are built better over in the EU, but for reason we don't get the quality over here. Which is sad since they are higher priced, luxury vehicles here, so you'd think for the high cost you'd at least get good reliability, but... NOPE.

Yeah, zr2’s running under $42k locally. About half of them.

 

I don't know either, I think they cheap out on the materials used.

 

One had past me the other day and almost didn't notice it was that color. There's a dealer about 40 miles away with a 2016 on their lot in that color, might be worth driving up take a peak at it.

 

The pictures of the desert tan truck with the new interior also had pictures of the bed. The cubby was missing.

 

Still have no idea why they did that. They didn't put anything in that space, so no reason I can think of. Just cost cutting or weight reduction maybe. I guess I've never really used mine for much, but just annoyed by them taking stuff away for no good reason.

 

The EPA also has something to do with the lack of single cabs, they started measuring MPGs on trucks by passenger volume or some other weird metric.

 

Just sat in one of the 2020's in Lemon Grove here in San Diego, they 3 right now, Vodoo, Cement, Silver. Is it crazy to still lean towards a 2019 when I have a dealer willing to go $3,600 off of sticker for a '19 TRD OR 4WD @1.9%? At least for me I don't see the seats/carplay etc being worth the price hike not even including the premium packages. They are hitting lots though!

 

Long lead because only 5% are made in manual under very specific configurations +/- 12,500 a year or so small numbers, even for a niche demographic. I think that the manuals are also allocated for certain areas too. Decently hard to find in my neck of the woods even if you drop your standards on feature and colors.

 

That's where I'm at too. Went to look at a 19 Cav Blue TRD ORSB. They are super willing to get the price down to where I'm comfortable and can afford it..You can tell they want it gone..sales guy even told me the truth and said they need to move stock asap. While it'd be nice to have a 2020,looks like I can get a better deal on a 19

 

In all honesty, I was really hoping they would bring the Ford Ranger Raptor stateside. I know a guy with a 2018 full size raptor and that thing is super nice. Would just prefer the mid-size model and not spending over $70k on a truck.

 

I f'n LOVE Raptors, and could buy one.

But I've had a dozen or more full sized trucks in my life, and have a Tundra Crewmax right now. I'm done with the size. I'm going smaller...Not bigger. I've driven a few Raptors and they're awesome. Ride great, great power, plenty of room, reliable, resale is insanity...I mean. It checks all the boxes. But I'm not trying to park a frigate at Starbucks any more
