I want to do a offroading expedition in Big Bear CA. I havent done any camping this year so i want to do an overnight camping at Holcomb campground or possibly crab flatts. Its a fairly isolated camping area with lots of offroading nearby.

if we get enough people we can do multiple runs or if we get enough 4xs with protection we can do some more difficult trails. maybe a couple night runs.

For day one we can meet in Mentone, drive up to angelas oaks. there is a great 2x friendly trail that goes from angelas oaks to big bear. from there we can split up. prerunners and the faint of heart take easy trails to crab flats, 4xs with sliders and 31" tires or better can go to arrowhead and go up dishpan springs which ends in crab flatts(really cool swimming hole at deep creek at the beginning of dishpan springs). settle into the camp, eat etc.. then we can "explore" at will. theres alot of cool trails and some historical stuff too. maybe if some 4xs are ambitious we can do john bull trail.

Day two we can do holcomb valley trail to jacoby canyon. jacoby canyon ends across from burns canyon trail. we can then take burns canyon to yucca. the 4xs can stop and do tip top mountain trail. we could then go down and take a group picture at giant rock and then disperse from there.

Let me know what you guys think. Itd be pretty cool to get a good size group to do this.

Event canceled due to work conflict...:(

i would have cleared with a spotter. I had a couple sidexsides behind me which distracted/ made me rush. i should have taken the turn wider. i didnt come down on a rock a turned into it. sliders would have still saved me. My reg cab is the same wheelbase as the fj iirc, i think its almost the same frame. A AC or DC short bed would def. need sliders and lift and a dclb FORGET IT! lol

depends... how tough of trails you want to do. I have a spacer lift in my reg cab and i got rocker damage. your wheelbase is 18" longer than mine so... some trails are 2x friendly so youd be fine there but as i always say its worth a shot to try...

I havent tried tip top trail but i here that good driver in stock truck can do it...

they also say that its impossible for a tacoma to make it up dishpan without lockers a 33"s and lift. I made it in almost stock form so does that make me an excellent driver?
