Honestly for him this is a great idea, but the Relentless bumper is a fucking pain in the ass due to space constraints and HFs winches are bulky

 

Yea, they do seem big. Just get the 5k or whatever size is similar to that then, it’ll fit easier.

 

Winch question, manual says battery needs 650 CCA. My battery has 530 CCA. What’s going to happen if I use this battery?

 

Might not have the amperage to pull to the rated weight, gonna drain rather fast no matter what but it's hard on the alternator to keep up with a load like that on an undersized battery. I ran a 780CCA battery and it was still a chore with a 120A alternator

Go LT! You don't necessarily have to do LT in the rear and you'll still be able to go faster without breaking stuff.

 

Doubt it. I have a dialed MT front with gusseted everything. It keeps up alright, and aside from going through LBJs every year, hasn't been much of a problem.

I don't think my rear setup could keep up with a good LT front, and It's the rear axle housing I just cracked. And I've already maxed the potential with SOA.



In before @Blackdawg tells me how awesome his LT is on his broken ass truck with shitty rear suspension.

Didn't do anything to my taco today, but I did do something for it. Drove to Santa Barbara and picked up a transfer case for the peerunner to 4x4 manual hub conversion. I need more parts!!!

Also tried to protect the skid bolts a little more.

 

Smittybilt x2o 10k. Saved my ass a couple times now.

 

The WARN ones are nice, but a tad out of my price range.

 

Everyone talks shit on smittybilt but I use it at least once a month like my lockers and actuators to make sure it works, and I think that should hopefully promote longer life.

Any winch requires regular maintenance. They are exposed to a lot of crap being on the front of the vehicle. But treat them right and they will save your ass. I have had mine for almost 8 years. I have had to replace the contractor once and have since moved it to under the hood. Also upgraded to a high quality 2AWG wires.
