Wire ID Help Requested

Hi everyone, I was removing some after market parts that came on my truck and noticed this wire and jumper that looked out of place. Can anyone ID if that exposed wire (black sheathing with random electrical tape) is a factory part or if that was something that was potentially added to the jumper? It also looks out of place past the jumper where it becomes a big thick fat wire almost in some sort of sheathing (whitish/opaque) as opposed to normal wire.

Anyone have a link to the wiring schematics? Wondering if that is a switched on power circuit or what exactly that pin is for.

What parts did you remove (might provide a clue)?

 

Follow the wire and see where it goes. I haven’t seen anyone really run wires into the plugs themselves.

Raptor Style Grill lights - they were on an add-a-fuse so that was easy to remove.

That was what I thought as well.


My one suspicion that I havent been able to get confirmed was I had sliders installed that have lights that are tapped into the dome circuit so they illuminate when you approach the vehicle. I asked the vendor but they have not gotten back to me. I was thinking it might be a constant 12v to supply the power to the 4 light pods.

That shouldn't explain that wiring job unless someone really "rigged" it up. From what I see (and your identification of the wire) it looks like a cable I normally use in the industrial field (a signal wire). The wire that you have pointed out looks to be the shield for that cable. We normally wrap that shield in tape to make sure that it doesn't come in contact with other "live" conductors. If my interpretation is correct, there should be two more conductors paired with that wire (in the cable set). Knowing where they go my help too.

Possible. But even if it's just a shield, I would think that the factory would have used heat-shrink instead of tape.

 

Interesting. So what is the EB2 connector for? The rest of the pins on that connector look OE?

I've got a copy of that file too. And it is rather large. @caribe makaira seems to be well versed in these systems. Hopefully he can produce a little more data?

 

Interesting that OE used tape instead of shrinky-dink.

 

The gray is a shielded wire (ground) for the rear camera, seems they didn't terminate it at the connector.

Thank you both. Appreciate saving me a trip under the truck later. Just seemed out of place and was the first time I have really examined the fuse box.

 

Interesting... I was assuming it had something to do with the 4x4 system because the 2wd I looked at first did not have the wire. Didn't look up the schematic though
