Here’s my truck. I actually lowered it back to stock.

I know for a fact a quartered elk with antlers fits in the back.

    I figure boring is good.

We are in a similar boat. Both my wife and I drive 2006's with over 160k miles each. Tacoma and CRV. CRV is getting pretty rusted but Taco has brand new frame on it. I'd like to drive both until they die because I really like not having a car payment. But she is about ready to move on from the CRV so that might get replaced in the next couple years.

update. i drove it to Portland OR from the CA, bay area. zero issues. got the same mpg..around 22 this time. zero issues.

same NAGGING squeak at take off. but you know what? that road trip made the squeak less intermittent!! it got worse which allowed me to find it. i actually pulled over in Salem, and slid under the truck and bench-pressed a few things. despite the dealership checking everything, after their TSB leaf spring recall, and me taking it back..i found it!! it was my driver rear side shock. i swear the squeek sounded like it was passenger side for sure. the top nut was loose allowing the OME shocks' hard dust cover to spin a bit..when it did..squeak!! i tightened it and it is perfect again.

at home, i took out some new Bilsteins a friend gave me off of his modified truck..and it is now totally silent back there.

i'm going to order some wet OKOLE seat covers and maybe some new all season radials and call it good. no more thoughts of buying a new truck. elk hunting season is coming..i need reliability. i am driving to New Mexico!!

My previous taco was an 05 with 181k miles. Still ran like a rhino but someone didn’t stop for a red light in March 2018...

Just got a 2010 about six weeks ago. It has almost 150k on it. I hope to get another 150 if I still have it by then.

I had my 1st gen for 17 yrs. only upgraded to a new 2015 because it was the last for that gen. There was nothing wrong with my 1st gen at all. Take care of them and they last a long time.
