    Sweet!

I’m thinking of completing my PhD in Public Health (my masters got me 40% through). Maybe you can convince me to do it. Its kind of its own version of an ultra lol

Only do it if you get paid more money for having it. That simple. In my profession, the more arbitrary degrees, the more money you make and influence you have.

The money really doesn’t matter too much to me as long as I’m able to use what I do towards fulfillment. I’m still at the point where I’m not sure the degree will do that.

I may never make tons doing what I want because its mostly state and public service focused which is fine for me.

I’m basically trying to decide if research is what I want to do. If not, no need to bother collecting more degrees than what I have. Other than the fact I could get it nearly paid for.

I got a joint JD/MA in philosophy for the fuck of it. Knew I wanted to practice law but the MA really doesn't do much unless you want to teach or get a Ph.D down the road.

    What law do you practice?
Edit: I think I remember, PI?

My masters in healthcare policy is my passion but my masters in environmental science was for fun. I love learning.

I’ve also considered a JD to further my career but the issue was cost and time. I can take 5 years to peicemeal my PhD but not a JD. I have to go to a part time job for 4 years. Not really happy about that. I was a med mal (plaintiff) paralegal for the last 5 years. I love love law but wouldn’t want to practice just use the JD for political power in passing policy haha

Exercise question: anyone believe in compounding lifting and cardio into the same day? Not cardio as in the warmup you do prior to lifting, but an actual hard run or bike ride for a couple hours. I feel like this is would induce too much fatigue, require multiple rest days to recover from. Im wondering if anyone routinely does this, and what their results are.

I have a pretty broad "small town"/general practice. Lots of criminal defense, lots of civil litigation (corporate, contract, real estate, etc.), some will drafting and some business formation. I went to school in the evenings while working full time. Took 4 years. Don't know if there are schools near you that offer it, but it's worth doing IMO. I couldn't give up 3 years of income and professional growth to go to school.

Yep, my wife does litigation and its totally worth it. Great money and she is able to keep a healthy work-life balance, but loves her work enough to always ruin the balance.

@PackCon , Id say do it.... right after you run 50 miles with me. Get fit.

I have a lot of respect for your ability to do all those different types of law. Thats not easy.

I know of people who did part time and worked full time, I’m just not sure if I can cut it. Its a rough 4 years.

Which law type is your favorite?

    Wow. Power couple!

I will run a 50 miler with you next time I’m in town! We’ll pass the time by deciding my dissertation topic.

Its not that I don’t believe in it I just don’t do it.
I find that in addition to that level of cardio and lifting to be strenuous in one day but I also just have a different mindset endurance days vs lift days. Its hard to mix that into a regular routine.

Lets say I was sick or on vacation and I wanted to combine two days to make up for lost workouts I would do it but not as a regular thing.

I’m interested if you have an opinion on BCAA supplementation during extended cardio sessions?

I'm curious to what everyone's frequency is for meals in a day and how many snacks if you snack. I'm coming off of an 8 week bulk (today is my last workout). Based off of my plan I should have been eating every 2-3 hours and at least 5 meals a day. I definitely got 4 in everyday with an occasional miss and get 3 in. One of my issues was not finishing my meals, does anyone else have or had this issue? Sometimes I felt I could easily eat a meal and other times I would struggle to get 3/4 of it eaten. Just curious...

    I eat approx
    8am
    11:30am
    2:30pm
    6:00pm
    8:00pm sometimes

That just happens to be when I’m usually hungry.

I sometimes have issues eating enough and I’m not in a position to lose any more weight. I have a minimum I force myself to eat on off days but I don’t routinely force myself to eat. Thats a good indication you’re eating too much.
