I've read through the threads concerning the 2nd filter removal mod but didn't see anything about the gap that is left in the filter housing once the 2nd filter is removed. It is just an observation but won't the air filter be able to move up and down once this (2nd filter) is removed. The carbon filter frame ensures the upper seal for the air filter and it's removal would allow it to move.

This may be a non issue but it seems that if it can move, might it not allow unfiltered air to flow around it and get into the intake?

Most people report no increase in MPG or NEGATIVE gains? in MPG. Pointless mod.

I'm not sure I follow. The secondary filter is mounted 2' down the line from the primary filter.

After taking a second look the 2nd fliter dosen't contact the air filter. It is at least and inch above it...my bad!

Mine is the 4 banger I'm sure the v6 isn't any different!

The secondary filter in the 2.7L engine is not close to the primary filter and it's removal won't effect the fit of the primary filter in any way. As for MPG gains my impression is that people who drive conservatively see noticeable gains (especially with the 4 cyl.) while the "enthusiastic" drivers don't see any difference.
