Well this made me look at the ADS shocks/coilovers I was thinking about more realistically. It's gonna be a pain to take apart/put together my truck for rebuilds, especially since it's my only vehicle. I guess I could keep my 5100s and just throw those back on there if/when that happened but I usually just don't have the down time to do it in. Thanks for the post!

Shitttt, if I could afford ADS shocks. They'd be on my truck. Off road use or not

Yeah, it's just hard to spend $3500 on shocks alone for me, when I have $350 worth of shocks that do the job well enough on there right now. I think I'm gonna stick with the 5100s for now.

Pretty much the same reason I went with the 6112s. Although there's some ride issues I need to address with them. But they were in the budget and work well for my current use

Mob mentality, oh that guy has kings I need those too, then they probably realize they don't really need kings to go to the mall and soccer practice.

I was just talking about this. It seems like people buy brand new Tacoma’s, throw Kings on it, create an IG for the likes. Then can’t afford it and sell the kings and wheels to make the truck stock and then trade it in lol.

What's even worse. Those damn guys that have an IG and get all these sponsors and throw crazy money into the trucks. But never use them on trails unless it's for a photo Opportunity. You guys know a few of them. Who have the nerve to claim they are knowledgeable about the shit or tell people to subscribe to their YouTube for tips and information. Drives me insane

Edit: and the only information they have to give is the same shit you can find in the instruction manual or given to them by the people they pay to build the truck

I’d venture a guess it’s learning curve. Kings are likely excellent products, I almost pulled the trigger on them myself during my research, but, perhaps, if after one has gotten them in house one may find that a different type of shock is better suited for or more frequently supported by an alternate technology to match driving performance goals.

I’d presume the ball and chain might stumble across the invoice or bank statement and the resell is the return to the master bed play perhaps.

Plenty of people also swap out things that are worth decent $ for stock if they still have it when selling the vehicle. Get more $ for the parts then you will for a built teuck.

Exactly!! That’s why I just get the decals. No one knows what I have but then they see my cool decal and think that I’ve spent thousands just to impress them.

The ones that make me raise an eyebrow are when you look at their vehicle line and it says 2019. So fast.

Most of the things discussed in this thread, is why my truck remains a mechanically stock OR. Yes, I’ve added some things, but those things are only aesthetic that I like or need. My truck only leaves the pavement 2 or 3 times a year, and maybe deals with snow once a year. I’ve no need to be anything other than stock. I’ve given serious thought about a mild lift and “upgraded” wheels/tires, but I don’t really need them, and I’m too cheap to spend thousands (to do it right). Yes, I think a nice suspension package would improve the look of the truck, but that’s all it would do for me.

I tend to look at upgrades when things break or wear out. For example, my wheels are corroded to hell and might even be leaking. But my tires are still good. I *might* get different wheels when these tires wear out.
