Would you LT a long bed DC?

so you guys condone reusing you stock trd coils when getting a LT?

 

No you cant use the stock coilovers with LT. I am putting LT in the rear first and just doing spindles in the front for now.
The rear is always the biggest limiter. So I figured I would do that first.

So for those of you guys that have your trucks done I have a quick question......I would love to lt my dc long bed but are you still able to tow or haul a load in the bed or does it become absolutly useless at that point? And in order to lt the rear is it tottally necessary to cut into the bed in order to get the shocks set up?

 

it depends on how much cage work you get done in the rear... if your going w/ a typical SUA and bedcage set up you can keep some of your bed or have no more bed at all. i'm going to get a cage built similar to this so i can still use some of my bed



bajamoon has alot more cage work in the back of his truck and no more bed



there are other options out there like a cantilever set up that doesn't cut into the bed at all (it just expensive and can be a bitch to tune the shocks) or check out the defined eng. SUA kit...

like said above it depends on how far you go. As for towing it depends on what you are towing, a travel trailer is not a good idea but a small trailer with a motorcycle should not be a problem, Do a small bed cage and you can still carry a load in the bed just not as much as stock.

 

What do you guys think about a cantilever set up with a SUA? That way the shocks and frame are under the bed and I can still use the full bed. would this even be an option? Or would the shocks be too much of a pain in the ass to set up?

 

you can do that, do know how hard it would be to get the shocks dialed in thou, it won't be easy.

 

a canti set up is a great way to go if your looking to keep all your bedspace and can afford the cost

install isn't as straight forward as a reg SUA either

That's why straight engines are more reliable than Vs

 

whitecloud, check out evotaco's bedcage on his double cab long bed... hardley takes up any space at all

 

Do the defined engineering SUA if you want to keep your whole bed and some shock hoops with a removable cross brace. I have met the owner of the defined engineering and he is a great guy and a perfectionist. Also if you don't have the money to build a cage or shock hoops you can use stock length shock on it until then but you won't get as much up travel. Also the springs he uses are a custom made deaver pack that only he can get and it still holds weight a lot better then my race leaf pack I'm running. We installed a kit a few weeks ago and It rode really nice I thought.
