I just dropped my truck off a Modesto Toyota, for the windshield & rear spring TSB's. But I also wanted them to look at my seat belt, it rattled and seemed loose at the bottom of the door, "Oh that'll be $55 as that is not covered in the factory warranty, all squeaks and rattles are only covered for a year" Fine don't do it, I'll look at.

Makes me wonder if I tell them it's a safety concern for me, not a squeak or rattle. Is it covered now?

I know how you feel. I had an 02 tacoma that only had 3 of the four bolts holding down the passenger seat, I brought it to their attention and they told me that I did it. I noticed it wasn't there because I was installing a carpet on top of the factory carpet, and I removed the plastic to see how best to cut the carpet to slide it around the legs. Needless to say they wouldn't take care of it, until I called a friend of mines grandmother whom is wealthy and has a lawer on retainer and asked his opinion then had him make a call. They installed a new bolt for free. Wow.

yup i know what u mean. i always clean my truck inside and out when i take it to get service so when i get back scratches and scuffs show up more. last year they scratched the top of the grille and i told them. no questions asked they waxed and polished that area for free right there in front of me. it pays off to complain bout those things cuz it is ur truck and they need to know that u care about it for future reasons

Reading this thread and after my first negative experience with my dealer i actually started looking at auto services for toyotas on craigslist. I found a master mechanic that actually worked out of the dealer that i purchased my truck from. It was meant to be... He was and has been the only person that has touched my truck. I did my 15k service back when and he just completed my 90k this week. You could actually save a lot of money and get quality work down. i would always have him look at other issues with the truck that wouldn't normally be covered and he would bang them out no problem. I recommend looking into your local CL and continue to look until you come across a master mechanic that is able to work out of the dealer garage. Good luck!!! He also mentioned trying to make friends with a service provider and always going to back to the same guy. You could get little breaks here and there if making friends with the front heads first!!!
