    One other thing about doing the gears is if your planning on keeping your truck long term it will pay for itself in about 100,000 miles or so with the gas you will be saving. Will also prolong the life of the transmission as it doesn’t have to work nearly as hard with so much less shifting.

    That is a lot of money to put into a vehicle you still might not keep that you will never get back when you sell or trade in. Make the decision sooner rather than later.

    I suggest you try to find someone near you that has OVTune and get a test drive.

    Yeah, so many complaints they basically did nothing differently to the 2020 but a software update and they had a pitch man explain it through a marketing outlet. Oh the emails...

    So I'll ask:
    Anybody in the San Diego Area have a manual w/OVTune (preferably close to stock setup) willing to let me test drive? I've been debating to throw money at vehicle comfort or home comfort.

    You believe what you want to believe. He’s an engineer. Gaslighting is also a problem on TW.

    Give it some time. I’m coming up on 4K miles on mine and it doesn’t drive me as nuts anymore as it did the first 1-2,000 miles.

    I agree. I loved my2016 SR5 so much I traded it for a 2019 TRD sport just because, I wanted the upgrades the TRD sport offered. I love the 2019 even more.

    Darren, I also pretty much did the same thing..
    Then consulted the forum...
    Then researched OV and gears and whatever that shift box thingy is, oh yeah, shift sense...
    About 3k miles later and playing with the ECT button for a week...
    All of a sudden, it started shifting much better & I wasn't even playing with the ECT button anymore
    Give it some time.

    It's a shame I just saw this, I was near Powder Springs yesterday.

    OVtune is definitely worth it and will make you keep your vehicle.

    If you are ever near the Lilburn area let me know and you can test drive mine, currently running 2.0 87 octane.

    I feel like some people have differently wired brains. You give an extremely logical breakdown of options (obviously the best option is get the manual). The ones asking for advice then shame the guy for giving a well thought out response. What is even better is that all the given options are cast away as "well all those won't work what else do you have for me?".

    "That is it, there is nothing else.

    1. Get latest ECM calibration from Toyota via TSB at the dealer.. OR.. do it yourself with Techstream and the appropriate .cuw file. (FREE)
    2. Buy OVtune ($700);
    3. Re-gear ($thousands);
    4. Trade for a manual (take a bath - maybe);
    5. Get rid of truck (take a bath).

    Just sayin. Lots of ppl are re-geared AND tuned. They have REALLY big smiles on their faces I guess?"

    Modify the truck so you like it more or get a different truck.
