Alabama thread!

I bought my truck with Yokahama Geolander AT G015. I know it's not the same, but mine are holding up great. They have even got us up the slick muddy mountain during hunting season.

 

Hey guys I need some help. So wouldn't the last couple weeks my truck has been vibrating upon braking, and accelerating. it will also vibrate just a tad at cruising speed around 70 miles an hour. It's not brakes because instead of breaking it will also vibrate as a shift down through the gears as I slow down. also if I'm traveling and I shift into neutral, and apply the brakes, if I brakes as well so I'm hoping it's not the transmission. It sounds like it's either the carrier bearing or u joints. 2006 TRD Sport Prerunner with 230k on it.

What's y'all's thoughts?

 

I will say, they have fantastic reviews. And theh look sick. Guess ill just continue my research on both.

 

Center support bearing, or u joint are my guess without riding in it.

 

Thanks. That's exactly what I'm thinking. It's nothing brake related, because I don't feel any shaking or vibrating in the steering wheel, nor does the frequency of the vibrations match the rotation of the tires when slowing down if that makes sense

 

Cleaned up my diff breather kit set up. Awesome little set up that allows a nice secure hold and no drilling necessary

 

@tweakit88 id say geolander bc they look mean AF. Was looking at them the other day on Simpletire.com bc they have free shipping and a $60 off coupon. They have really aggressive sidewalls that make them look amazing. I’ll probably get the Arturo TrailBlades bc you can’t beat $600 to the door for 285/75/16’s in an M/T platform that actually has good reviews lol

I got a message from HAMR (Huntsville Area Mountain-bike Riders) that they have built and are building two skills trails at the new bikers pavilion on Monte Sano. We are checking it out in the morning and I'll take my GoPro and let you guys know how it is.

 

Sounds promising. I like the mountain bike "play grounds". Good place to warm up.

 

yeah I'm hoping this is pretty good, but we shall see. we always "warm up" by parking down on that lower road and riding the long 1.5 mile road uphill to the park, but I never make it the whole way lol.

 

Same. That hill lets you know if you're in shape or not. Lol. The ride down at the end of the day is nice though.

 

yes it is, one of the best parts of the day lol. I'm just ready to get out and ride, haven't ridden all summer.

 

Same. I use to ride 3 or more times a week in college. Not sure what happened.

Sounds fun! A “skill trail” sounds like I’ll be spending a lot of time eating dirt, but I’m not scared to fall. Bring it on!

I can tell by some videos from other areas that monte sano is pretty mild. now there's some insane areas, but they are too "downhill" for me....like grab your handlebars and hold on and hope you don't die kind of downhill. I want more of a "flow" course than a downhill. Something with some speed to it but not 45 degree declines...

 

What kind of bikes does everyone ride? i still ride my old Giant yukon and Reign

 

yeah that's what I need. I'm excited to try these out tomorrow but I def want to get to other places. Heck, Oak Mtn looks great to me.

places like Windrock on the other hand....look like death for me.
