Luckily my youngest son has heeded my advice. He has a good paying job with a good pension (started at 19) and is putting 10% into a 457 plan on top of that. He will not have to worry about money in retirement if he keeps that up. I had to raid my retirement for an emergency in my 30's and did not start rebuilding it until early 40's.

Smart thinking...really...I was lucky in that my Dad was very persistent I finish school and save for the future. The economy has not been robust in much of my working years (still in them!) so he also instilled budget, budget budget. For a while I lived in meh places, drove even mehier vehicles and did meh vacations. My wife and I built our own house (as in with hammer and saw, not "watch a builder") and frankly this budgeting is reason I'm on TW today in that my last truck was a Tundra, but I didn't "need" a Tundra any more so I started my build on a Taco. My strategy is failing somewhat due to TW however, as for example when I saw your BADASS UpTopOverland rack I had to divert budget towards it! You would be amazed how easy it is to avoid wasting cash when you actually use cash.

As far as a job change...if you can work remotely you save a lot...skips the lunch out and coffee's gas, wear/tear, clothes and such.

Great idea. I just ordered one myself. I’d like to have something for the console too.

What is the largest tire you can have on stock rims? Just curious as I will need to purchase tires soon.

I was not at fault, the other party's insurance has already determined that they were at fault and are going to fix it.

I've never had an issue like this so I am not sure if I would go for diminished value from my insurance or the other guy's.

As far as the fronts go, it should be about an inch (having them installed right now). It really doesn’t provide any lift in the rear since the leaf springs are really the “suspension”. However I did measurements before and after and the rear initially measured about 1/4” higher than the OEM Bilstiens. Theoretically this combo should come close to “leveling” the truck.

I ran 275 70 on my SR5 stock wheel. But had to use 1 1/2” wheel spacers
It only rubbed when I turned sharp and compressed the front suspension. If I was thinking clearly I would have gotten the same size for this truck and wheels. But I was so excited just to get them installed I forgot lol

Learned from my dad, that poor man will have to work until he dies. Invested meh but still lost most that with the 2008 crash. Self employed so no one to match or help cover retirement. It was good motivation to just stick with Uncle Sam. You’re at a good age to invest all you can, no sense maxing credit cards and other nonsense just to keep up with the Jones.

Their insurance should cover everything. Not sure about the diminished value thing. Honestly, I've never heard of it before. I think you will be OK. It's just a tail light and a scratch. Not like major paint or body work. Don't stress over it. What's done is done. Sorry it had to had to you.

New Taco owner here out of San Diego.. so far, added the predator steps, swapped out the cheese grater for Taco Garages Black on Black pro grill (highly recommend), chrome delete, 10% on the windows.

Didn’t want to do anything but man, now I understand why everyone loves their truck! Currently am shopping around for a solid bed bar system to add a tent, Prinsu rack, and going to be ordering the Baja Designs Amber Fogs. I literally told all of my friends that I’m not going to be doing anything to this truck but everyday I find something new I want to add. Any rec’s on a simple bed bar system?

Just put the other one on the passenger side a few minutes ago. The pad comes with a film over it that you remove. Cut your (3) 3M strips place lengthwise, 1 top, 1 bottom,
1 middle. Clean the mounting surface with denatured (rubbing) alcohol. Remove the protective film on the other side of the 3M tape, align and press. You're done!
Enjoy! Great mod I just wish it was my idea. No matter we all share here.

If you plan on keeping it for the long haul I wouldn't worry about it. If like some you get a new one every couple years I'd think about the downside if it's reported to Carfax. Do what you feel suits you best.

There we go. That's the answer I was looking for.

I plan on having it at least 5 more years, so I'll hold off. I cant imagine a truck with 120k miles and a minor ding that is repaired is worth any significant amount less than one with no dings.

My 2011 was 6 years old when t-boned an ultimately totalled by the adjuster. 60k and immaculate inside and out. Not a single door ding, perfect paint. Not a mall crawler I just took very good care of it. Insurance co. cut me a check for 24k.
Just something for you to use as a basepoint. Hope that helps.
