I felt it was more the fact that Bel Riose was the Galactic Empire and Cleon II's favorite general, but Bel Riose became disillusioned with the path the Empire was taking, causing Cleon II to banish him for his treasonous words. Similar to how Hannibal was sent to Africa, but told not to cross the Rhine.

You know, until last night I knew nothing about I.A. except that he was ahead of his time in regards to his SF writings.
So if nothing else, I learned more about him, and a great deal about what is Pulp Fiction, and then later how those became became SF, and the how/why.

I'm a bit of a nerd and grew up watching every episode of Star Trek for example, among others, and then later the earlier Star Wars movies. But I have always appreciated any SF movie as long as they are interesting, somewhat believable, or just plain good. I have seen a lot of shit. Movies at the end I always say to myself, "well, there's 1.5 hours of my life I will never get back". Since the introduction of advanced CGI that happens less and less.

I honestly was going to say Roman Empire but I thought you were looking for a name of a person that was the "prototype" and would later become Bel Riose in the newer SF versions of earlier "Cowboy" based Pulp Fiction stories. They talked about Buffalo Bill and Doc Savage but only in that context. The never really mentioned anyone in particular from the roman empires in what I read, and that's what threw me.

I thought at first, after only 30 minutes of research that it might be Hari Seldon, but then I realized that was in fact a character in the book.

I am a huge fan of the newer version of I, Robot with Will Smith and have seen a couple times. I am going to have to watch the original now, and will also look for the Foundation Trilogy.

Or just do the Audio Book version while I am here at work.

Thank you for making me think, and teaching me something new. :fistbump:

If you like to listen to scifi audiobooks, listen to the Commonwealth trilogy by Peter F. Hamilton.

I've only ever listened to one audio book. The one I used to prepare for my HAM license (which I nearly aced). But after the challenge last night, and my research on I.A. and the Trilogy Foundation I am very intrigued to hear it in it's entirety. The only thing is, I barely have time to read medication instructions these days let alone a book, or a couple of books. That's a lost cause.

Is that similar to the writings of I.A. as well? And like the Foundation Trilogy?

Don't you have a super long drive to work?

Hamilton has been critically acclaimed to be on level with Heinlein and Asimov, but his writing is a little different.

Yea but I commute with the wife. She will watch most SF movies but would likely not be into something this deep.

This takes a special breed of nerds like us.

Hell, the police can’t even find my place. Feel free to show up without pants. But with booze. And Doritos.
