My wife is not allowed to drive my Tacoma because it challenges her femininity. I don't need her beard and scrotum thicker than mine.

This is an interesting study! I like it. In terms of how gender plays into cars though, trucks are most commonly associated as an androcentric type vehicle. I say this merely because twice while getting gas or being around town, people have said they liked my car and then followed it with a "is it your dads? no? so is it your boyfriends? no? oh." conversation.

It's just the society we live in and that's fine!

When I identified as a Tacoma driver, things where different, scared of being manly, so no, I didn’t wave.

I thought that it was less common due to so many work fleets use Tacomas. Thus not the driver's choice.

@ohnohbabywhatisudoin maybe he was frowning cuz the sun was in his eyes (most likely due to not recognizing you - as @Rock Lobster said).

In socal nobody waves at each other. It's a rare occurrence to my knowledge. In 3 years, I have gotten 3 waves total. I do not initiate the wave, just respond with a peace sign, typically or just confusion of why am I being honked at.

I can validate this statement as a socal resident myself. I guess I'm the one who always initiates it. You never know what day someone could be having so sometimes a smile or a wave goes a long way, you know?

My pure spectulation based on my experiences: I doubt this had anything to with you being a woman. I stopped waving to other people in Tacomas because most of the time they don’t wave back and are confused why I’m waving. We don’t really have a wave like Jeeples. Wave or don’t wave, but I wouldn’t take it personal or question everyone’s masculinity if they don’t wave back.

Man, woman, dog, alien bug in an Edgar suit, doesn't matter which it is it's just nice to see those with a similar interest in vehicle especially if it's modded some. A TW sticker, stock or not, is nice to see.

    What he said....

Last I checked I didn't know vehicles were gender specific. While yes women generally drive cars, vans and suvs. I don't really care what a woman drives as long as they can handle the vehicle. And really I have seen men not be able to handle the vehicle they chose to drive as well which is just as bad.

I don't question anyone's masculinity when I don't receive a reciprocated response. Maybe he was just having a bad day, who knows! I was more so wondering what his though process was in terms of it all.
