Ok, and since you didn't respond in an hour, that night you have to wear the Capt. Chesapeake hat around the camp fire.

They make me all warm and fuzzy inside. I love the feeling getting in it and settling in. Reminds me of some of my old cars. Some of the rock bouncers are pushing upwards of 1600 hp now.

I sat in a trophy truck once, and my brain and my body agreed "this feels right". Love workin the races out here and when all the trucks are on the staging line, the chorus of loped cams and race gas brings a euphoric sensation.

Worked speed patrol for the pits one race this season right by the start / finish where there was a big transition. Lots of air time for the big boys.

I raced circle track for several years so I know that feeling well of sitting amongst the sounds and smells of turned up engines.

I think I goofed. Put new gears in the truck in anticipation of new tyres n lift. Stock tyres going 65 is 3200 rpm in 6th gear. There goes my fuel milage

Ok, read this thread and the 3rd gen too. I'm definitely going to buy this rack. Normally I like to buy top notch stuff but the reports on this are just too good.

Does it look like it cost half as much or less than other more popular racks? Yes. Does it do the same thing though? Yes. Do I think more people that have those more expensive versions would have bought this instead too if it was available at the time? Yes

Apparently they've tightened up the design to eliminate the original issues. No more numbers laser cut into the side (those were so people wouldn't assemble them incorrectly). They notched the rear cross rail for the shark fin antenna. They are now supplying black hardware (although some people liked the SS) that seems to be stronger and fit better.

The price is a little higher now though too. Still a great deal.

The two things people still complain about is the vibrations and wind noise. I read the vibrations are also an issue with higher priced versions. This is being eliminated with a "bulb seal" edge trim that allows the fairing to rest firmly on the roof without damaging the paint. Some guys are adding 3M clear vinyl as an added precaution. One guy used a carbon fiber vinyl and it looks great. I'm willing to bet that you could tape off with craft paper, and then use plastidip, then once that's dry, paint the plastidip with some color matched rattle can. That way if you decided later you wanted it off no problem.

The fairing has two cutouts, I suppose part of the design to set it apart from others like it. A guy cut lexan, painted those and attached them. No more wind noise. Personally, I will likely buy a thicker piece of lexan, cut it to cover the entire fairing, and follow the roof curvature all the way from side to side, and extend it up beyond the top high enough to protect the light bar up there. Then I'll paint the bottom half (inside so the front is easier to wash, and look better) and the sides so the only part not painted is where the light bar is.

Even with those two caveats and the fixes for them, I still think this is a great deal. I think as soon as we get back from Siesta Key I'm ordering one. There was a single post about someone setting up a group buy but no responses after that. The link doesn't work so either the OP changed his mind or the mods shut it down.

Just an FYI, if (and I am sure I am) get this I'll be offering my Ebay fake OEM rack up for free to someone in my regular threads. And if nothing happens then, in the play it forward thread.

    Thanks again Erik! :fistbump:

What gears did you go with, are you manual or auto, and what size tires are going on?

More progress on tubbing. Passenger side is all cut up and welded. Firewall, cab mont, and front fender behind headlight.

Just need to clean up the welds a little, and seal it all up.

 Looks good. Appreciate you documenting your process.

I took my first step towards 35s. I redid my cab mount chop.
