Hello, new to Tacoma World. I have an 08' DC and am looking to put a 3" lift, new wheels, and tires on this week. Still unsure about the size tire to get, dont want it to rub.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Welcome to TW. If you go with a 285, you will need to run wheel spacers or get a rim with a backspacing of 4.5" or less.

EBAY Auction: 120557812561 has a set of 4 for $505 free shipping! I bought mine about a year ago for $480, but I guess prices have gone up a little. This included Lug nuts and center caps and valve stems (You will not need the Valve stems if you want to keep your TPMS). TPMS bolts from my 17" TRD Sport wheels right onto these. Yes, I went down from 17" to 16" Wheels. Very, Very close fit!
Only wish I could have gone to 15" wheels as the tires are cheaper.

I was looking at the 285/75/R17 BFGs, but based on all the threads Ive read so far that will require quite a bit of trimming and still may rub. What about 265/70's? Anyone with pics of that size tire with a 3 inch lift? Thanks for the input.

Your stock TRD Sport Tires should be 265/70/17 Dunlops. So, Just look at your Tacoma to see what they look like, then imagine the 3" lift. Lol
Here's mine when I picked it up at dealership back in 06 :
