I believe its 409 stainless which is standard now for oem's not 304 which is what I use.

No it's not, sorry. You may be able to find the muffler as a takeoff from a muffler shop. It's from a 2019 Dodge Ram.

Has anyone tried to fit this Y-Pipe to a 4.7L 4runner? Sounds like it works well with the V6 4Runner. I've been wanting to build my own system then I stumble onto this thread, cool stuff.

Any design improvements for the V8? I'm planning a dual system w/ X pipe. Either dual 2.5" or dual 3" but am open to a single system too.

A supercharger kit is a fairly likely upgrade within a year or two which is why I'm considering the 3".

From the original post, isn't the firing order even on a V8 too? A 60 degree V6 fires 120 apart, a 90 degree V8 fires 90 apart. I'm no expert here just reading wikipedia, let me know if I'm wrong.
A V8 doesn't alternate nicely between banks like your V6's so that's probably what you are referring to, so the merge at the Y doesn't scavenge as well. Got it now.

    Anyway, open to design suggestions.

Very cool. You are correct in the fact that the v8 doesnt fire evenly. This is why a crammed v8 lopes like it does.
You will have to do your research but usually oem tubing size is sufficient unless you are making significant gains or want to sacrifice low end for top end (race motor).
From what I have read, an x or h pipe as soon as practical after the headers is a good rule of thumb but every engine is different and VVTI adds even more variable into the mix.
I'd see if others have experimented already to give you a baseline if you want to experiment.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Thanks. What software are you using? I could probably use Inventor at work to lay out the tubing but I'm sure its missing some functionality of a dedicated exhaust software.

Pipemax is what I use to give me tubing diameter, length, etc. Routing and layout is done old school by yours truly.

Thanks man. When I get time I will see how much this deviates from my current offering.

Surprise! A little update. @RAGS2WRENCHES yours is finished. Sorry for the bad pic. @tblizzard yours is in work (in the jig). I hope to have them both finished and shipped out tomorrow. No guarantees though. I hate packing these things!

I dont.....only because I get to do it daily. I still love it!

So now the passenger side is tacked up it gets taken off the jig to weld up.
Then back on for bung placement/drilling holes and hanger fitment.
Once that is tacked on it will come off the jig again for final hanger welding and qa check to make sure I didnt miss any welds.

Also a small update. I no longer weld a bracket between the two pipes. A few others have been running without the bracket (I initially didnt weld around the corners of the bracket so my first couple y-pipes brackets broke.
Nobody is having any issues without the brackets and since the overall y-pipe length is pretty short AND is being secured at the header flange at the front, and hanger + merge collector in the back it is plenty solid.

Thanks @BassAckwards, @loginfailed, and @5thGearPinned for letting me know about the brackets and that there have been zero issues.

So instead here is how I am labeling these now.

Sheppard AFB is also an international pilot training base and my Italian neighbor/friend stopped by for a little fab work on his go cart.

Here is his 8yo son learning a little TIG action. I think his face says it all!
