50 bucks but you can do so much more
More freedom. Also never payed over 500 bucks for a new phone l, always some the trade in. But in the end it comes down to personal choice, just some of us think they are over priced and over rated. Also the storage drives the price up, who needs that much storage.

I agree on all points. I just know my OLED on my XS Max is incredible, I've never had an OLED before so I am thoroughly impressed to say the least. I can't say if it's better then the galaxy screen, just was showing what I had found.

I think hes just saying that since he already has a Galaxy he can just trade it in for the newest one and get it cheap

Yeah, but what are you really getting for that money that a sub $300 phone can’t do? My cheap phone sends texts, makes calls, streams HD youtube like a champ, has a 16MP camera, two SIM slots for when I travel, a memory card for unlimited cheap memory expansion...I don’t see what benefits another $1700 buys.

Yeah, expandable memory is a HUGE plus for me with Samsung as opposed to Apple

This is wrong. iOS would slow down the processor to maximize battery efficiency for batteries that were discharging too quickly. Replacing your battery remedies this issue, and it’s now a toggle option in iOS due to people not understanding the optimization of the software.

More freedom yes, but less security. The playstore is just a breeding ground for hackers and the such. No doubt, we are entitled to it, I feel like they are expensive but that's how the whole smartphone market is heading towards. These phones now a days are nothing like what they used to be, hell they are even as powerful as some laptops/pcs.

That's correct, what they really screwed up on is not telling the consumer about the issue and why they limited the CPU in order to prevent unwanted shutdowns and what not. I think they learned from that mistake and they made good on it, I applaud them for that.

Yeah that's the one thing I dislike about iPhone, we should be able to get expandable memory, that's my one major gripe.

It's funny the iPhone can perform as good and better w/ half the RAM. Agree the non expandable memory sucks. I thought I read the note 10+ screen is 6.3" as the XS Max and 11 Pro Max is 6.5". Would be cool if the 11 Pro got the apple pencil, kind of beat it doesn't. I don't think the 4 rear cameras will outperform 11 Pro Max's 3. Looking forward to the shootout between them!

Some interesting info. from an article on the new iPhone.

The iPhone’s charging speed (at 18 watts) is lower than the Samsung Galaxy S10’s 20W, or optional 45W, charger. Samsung’s flagship is also faster at wireless charging, providing 15W of power vs. Apple’s 7.5W.

The iPhone takes great night shots, but if you want a phone with a superior nighttime mode, look no further than the Google Pixel 3

    What you don’t get
When buying an iPhone 11 series, you also get to enjoy the “amenities,” such as:

    • No direct 3.5-millimeter connection for headphones. (You need to use that annoying dongle.)

    • No expansion slots. (The Samsung Galaxy S10 can be expanded to 512 gigabytes.)

    • 60-hertz screens. (The OnePlus 7 Pro has a 90-Hz screen, and it’s a trend other Android phones are likely to follow.)

    • No wireless reverse charging, so you can’t top up your friend’s phone as you can with the Huawei P30 Pro, Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and some others.

18w and 20w are negligible differences.

The reverse wireless charging is cool, but only a handful of devices do it and it’s not a deal breaker for me to charge someone else’s phone (or another peripheral) off god awful slow wireless charging. That tech doesn’t impress me across the board, yet.

Expandable memory would be nice. The price gouging everyone does for NAND is ridiculous considering the price of it.

Screen looks great. You’re referencing specs to know the difference between devices since 99% of the market won’t be able to tell the difference between two OLEDs with a different refresh rate or slightly different PPI.

No what not every android can’t do yet? Secure data messaging. Text from a matching laptop (messages on macOS). Secure cloud (google analytics .. ). Consistently secure / stable OS builds. Dedicate themselves to vanilla android like the pixel (there’s a reason it’s a cut above the rest of the android market).

Either way, it’s what you want. I ordered an 11 Pro. It just works too well with my MacBook Pro.

I'll be getting an 11 - not sure which model yet. The better camera of the Pro is interesting, but for the price difference I could pick up a GoPro . . . Yup - there's the decision! I'm getting the 11 and a GoPro. (literally I just made that choice right here. Been going back and forth for a day now)

As for why iPhone vs Android, I've bought into the iPhone ecosystem and I can't see any reason to leave. I got my first iPhone, 3s, when my employer pulled my BlackBerry from my cold, dead fingers. Over the years I've had a couple of Samsungs and I always find myself going back to the iPhone. I know some complain about the iPhone price, but as proven above there really isn't much difference in price. Besides, for as much as I use my phone (a LOT) the cost is insignificant compared to the value I receive.

That’s fine, price of having an awesome OLED. At least the 11 Pro Max gives me a bit more battery time over my XS Max. I’m all about resolutions and graphics.

Nice I’ve been looking at the new GoPro, it looks pretty sweet. I have a Hero 5 Black and this 8 seems so much better.

Totally off topic now. But I have a youtube channel and have been using a Canon 80d and my iPhone 8 plus. A GoPro will be perfect addition and being smaller and tougher is great for those awkward shots.

Back to iPhone reasons - they support phones going back to 2013, the 5s. Nice to know if you want to keep a phone for a while Apple will continue to keep it updated and patched.

Apple admitted to it. Slowed down old phones and drained battery usage without telling their customers. Yes a fix was provided AFTER they were caught.

At this rate, I hope my S7 never dies. New phones are getting ridiculous.
