I owned one black vehicle in my life. Never again!!! A total PITA to keep clean and shows every cosmetic blemish.

My guess would be about $34500.00 with tech/prem and assuming no other significant options.

That doesn’t explain why they don’t offer it in access cab. I’m happy with my off road they didn’t even have the pro in 16 but all the pro features would be nice

    The way I see it.
The main reasons to get a Pro:
    1. You can afford it
    2. You like the wheels and suspension
The main reasons to get a OR:
    1. You want all the Off-Road Tacoma features
    2. You want to add aftermarket wheels and suspension
    3. You want a 6ft bed (edit)

To me, half the fun of owning a tacoma has been tinkering and trying to figure out which of all the aftermarket stuff I want to add to my truck. I still can't decide on freaking bumpers. You can tinker with both the Pro and the Off Road. But, if you like to tinker and have plans to lift your truck and throw some new wheels on it, it seems to make sense to not pay for the Pro upgrades.

I'm planning on getting a Pro this time around. Previously I wouldn't have even considered it, and scoffed at the salesman when I bought my 2017 Off-Road BUT when I built the 2020 OR the way I wanted it, it was about $1k less than the Pro with the same options as well, so why not? I don't have as much play money to throw around like a lot of you guys on here so I don't expect to lift it or swap out the suspension any time soon.

For an extra thousand I'll get:

    -TRD Pro headlights
--Not too much different other than saying "TRD PRO" since I configured the OR to have the LED headlights as well.

    -TRD Pro hood
--Yeah, yeah, I know it's non-functional but it does look nice to me.

    -TRD "tuned" Fox shocks
--Again, probably nothing special but I've heard that these shocks are better than the Bilstein's on the highway.

    -Non-chrome badging
--Sure, I could get the black overlays or remove them all together but that's more work for me and I have no experience in doing that.

    -TRD Catback exhaust

    -TRD Pro wheels

    -Toyota Heritage style grille

    -Better resale value

Honestly, when you start to think about it this seems like the best year to get a Pro compared to previous years, in terms of equivalent chosen options/accessories.

This is my first Taco, and first truck in 20 years. I'm unlikely to do many modifications if any, so the Pro was very attractive. Especially as the prices go up, the 3-4k difference disappears in the wash. That green is good and I was set on either a VB Offroad or a Green Pro. I went to the dealer to drive both and the Offroad just felt "better" to me. Probably because I'm coming from an Impreza/Jetta but the Pro suspension was too floaty for my tastes. Two minutes into the 2nd drive with the offload I knew that I was heading that way.

I'll miss those cool turn signals, that red-stitched leather (my wife's CX-5 has it and it's classyAF) and I'll be sad when I see 20 other VB tacos in the Boeing parking lot but I'll live.

I say get what you want. You can make an Offroad look enough like a Pro if you want. (I also got the Offroad for under MSRP, no way that'd happen in PacNW on a Green Pro.)

-Like to modify your truck knowing that the thousands of dollars that you “invest” is basically money thrown out the window when you eventually sell down the road? TRD OFF-ROAD

-Like to keep your vehicle pretty much stock and like that the fact that your awesome Fox tuned Internal Bypass shocks and suspension falls under Toyota’s bumper-to-bumper factory warranty? TRD PRO

I quit modifying vehicles years ago so my choice was easy. TRD PRO!!!

Well, to be fair, some of us don't consider money "invested" in modifying our truck thrown out the window, cause get this, we get to enjoy it for the duration of ownership. I know crazy right?

There was a time in my life that I was right there with you. Now, I don’t have the time to mess with it. I just want a capable off-road truck out of the box. With the packages the way they are this year it is almost a no brainer to spend the extra 2-3k for a pro over a similarly equipped OR. Now, would I pay 10k over MSRP for one? Hell no.

Dealers are discounting remaining ‘19 Pro inventory right now. I picked a killer deal on a new 2019 Pro last month.

Get a TRD off road, and use the money you save on mods. For the price of a Pro, you can throw a lift and bigger tires and a bunch more accessories at a OR.

Unless your trying to use your stock tacoma as a pre runner, I doubt those fox shocks will make much of a difference.

What are people paying for their 2019 PRO? I paid 40k out the door for my 2019 OR fully equipped . just curious to see what they are going for out the door.

I was going to buy a used TRD OR had it priced out, in the end I could not justify the price. They didn't have a 2020 SR5 on the lot with 4X4 I would have had to wait. I didn't want to wait.
So I went with a 2020 SR 4x4 in Barcelona Red.

It has all the tech, XM Radio Bluetooth, Android Auto/Apple Carplay, adaptive cruise control. It even came with fitted rubber floor mats (I don't have to buy weathertechs).
With all the money I saved I am already in the process of the upgrade.

    Ordered Bilstein 5110's
Ordered BFG AT KO2's in 265/75/16 on the stock wheels (for now)
Waiting to be mounted and installed on the 18th of August.
I purchased a ARB Portable/Onboard Compressor and a ARB Tire Repair kit.
I ordered a Hidden Winch Bumper Mount with a Smittybilt winch.
I also want the LED Headlights and Fog lights.

Next year I plan on adding a ARB locking Rear.

I think the truck will be more than I ever needed.

IM 60, my "tinkering" days are pretty much behind me. Wifey and I wanted a nice reliable truck out of the box for traveling.
The Pro fit the bill on all the bells and whistles we wanted, and since the dealer wanted that snorkel monstrosity off his lot...we were glad to oblige.
    So far...happy as a clam.
People always seem to stare at the truck at stoplights and we get allot of thumbs up...must be that snorkel monstrosity...you WON'T get that in a Ford or GMC etc....

Not every1 are into Modifying their trucks. Some people don't have the time. Some want the top trim. Some modifies vehicles their entire life and is too tired to wrench anymore. Some works too hard and rather spend their time making money than having to plan and research on how to build their truck. Some have no idea they can build the OR into a better truck.

Pros usually come with at least a $5k markup. An OR has the exact same engine, trans, 4x4 systems. Pros just add cosmetics and mild suspension upgrade. My OR now is much better than any stock Pro after my King shocks upgrade.

Pro is the best Tacoma. It is ready to go out of the box for serious off roading. If you aren’t penny pinching or hurting for money, get you a pro. If you are on a budget, an Off road is a very nice truck that you can customize as you go.

Idk 2k for fox shocks, 1k for rims, 300 for front grill, 1k hood scoop, 400 for a skid plate, some emblems, red stitching on the seats and shifter.

Say 5k? How much is it for a 2019 pro out the door
