I personally don't care for the looks of it, it's rather bland/bubbly looking to me. A Tacoma just looks rugged and appealing in my eyes like a truck should look like but looks are subjective.

Ford's problem began when when they designed it to look like an Escape and nobody in the room talked them out of it. Even if it were a good vehicle, people aren't buying anything that looks that bad, period.

They've been hating on Tacoma's for years, but cant deny the reliability factor and dominance of the smaller truck market.

I do agree Tacoma’s are better looking but being from Hawaii you see one every 3 seconds on the road. Felt it was time for something different for now

This afternoon this new Ranger 4x4 caught my eye. So I had to take it for a test drive.

I can't believe the beast of an engine it has.. This one drives like little freaking race car truck.

Nice ride and comfortable seat with more leg room than this 6'3" guy needs.

Hard to believe it doesn't have an independent rear suspension.

I had two Rangers before my Taco and loved them both. This new one Ford put ZERO effort into its design, ZERO thought into utility (a rear bench seat, wtf is that???), only a 4 cylinder??? TOTAL disappoint. Love my Taco and see ZERO reason to consider anything else.

And NO. Someone looking to buy F150 isn't suddenly thinking, hmm, maybe i'll get a Ranger. If you're a contractor, landscaper, or someone that actually needs a truck for work because you need to haul crap a midsize isn't for you. If you think midsize for work, then you're just starting out and will kick yourself in the ass later for not getting a full size.

Egads, looks like a DIY's bad dream under the hood.

That may be intentional. This morning I test drove a 4x4 3rd gen with 12,000 miles and a 4x4 2nd gen with 71,000 miles. Neither are as DIY friendly as my old 1st gen.

At least the plugs and coils are on top with easy reach. Looks like a lot, but I think easy to comprehend.

I need to go back for another Ranger test drive, there is something about the way it accommodates tall drivers that is sending me back for a 2nd look.

Providing a remedy to body pain is a great feature.

There’s definitely more head room for taller drivers

Ain’t gonna lie. Majority of our new ranger member are former Tacoma owners. Again, I’m not promoting either brands. Just stating to keep an open mind

One of the things to look at is the lumbar support. Aside from repeated trips to the dealer for oil leaks, a friend of mine got rid of his f150 because he found the lumbar support too aggressive.

I had a '17 raptor and just didn't like it. I'm a mid size truck guy. It had a little get up and go, but I'm also used to 750+HP in a GT500.
The ranger, I waited and waited for the ranger raptor model or even a bronco, because I traded my raptor in for a ford explorer sport...
I honestly couldn't gag down a ford ranger, they are hidious without that raptor fender look. It was a no go for me period, and I didn't want a 4 banger turbo in a truck, regardless if it made a bit more power. I have a 4 banger turbo in my wifes ford escape, and its ok... but would still prefer and pay for a v6 turbo in it with 100HP more.
I decided to go back to a Tacoma... I love tacomas. I've owned a 2008, 2011 and 2013, which I traded in on the Raptor.
I wish I never would have traded in my '13 tacoma. I was trading in my tacomas with 25 to 35,000 miles and paying only a few K to trade in. You can't do that with any other domestic truck/vehicle. Chances are you're losing 10K minimum.
Anyway, I'm real happy with the /19 tacoma, other than the tune, which I got a tuner for already, and is driving great.
Sure, it doesn't have the power I want, but I'm ok with it when the vehicle looks great. I don't mind putting around out there. I love the feel of a smaller truck, I just wish there was an offering for a 500HP truck the size of the tacoma. Maybe some day I'll drop something else in it. :)

Ford and GM are releasing sales numbers sometime today.

Looks like vehicle sales in general took a big hit in September though.
