What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

I’ve always wondered how hard it’d be to relocate the a/c controls lower and push the radio up higher

 

Not worth it hard

 

Vents should stay where they are stock. Just need to swap the controls and the radio. Like a 2nd gen I guess.

 

For those that have a winch, did you replace the wiring that comes included for larger gauge leads? What was your reasoning on doing so? The new ones on my winch seem pretty beefy.

Just got my gen3 XRC smittybilt and was wondering since i've read some folks' build threads that did all their own wiring.

Mine were getting corroded and I had the wire available.

 

So basically welding it in class is a no-go, something about liability.
Anybody recommend a cheap welder? Preferably MIG/fluxcore.

 

I went to larger wire because I was making the cable runs longer. If yours came with 4ga. and your not moving the contractor to under the hood or otherwise lengthening the runs, then the wire it came with should be fine.

 

I used to work at 4wheelparts as a tech and have installed easily over 100 winches and never had an issue with any of them. For the price, you can't go wrong. Just wish the wireless ones had a magnet on the end like the wired ones do. I think that feature is kinda neat.

Just go to hobo freight and buy a set of impact sockets, 1/2 ratchet, and big crescent wrench, you got it for less than $35
