Got any pictures of it? Thoughts on the carbon vs just plastic? That’s exactly what I’m trying to get.

Gentlemen, with HPtune......so did the sai get totally eliminated from the possibility of deleting it (for testing and or off road purposes)? Or did the powers at be figure out how to work around it?

10-4. I ask because I thought one time when while lightly checking out the thread, that was the topic of discussion and it had been wiped from the possibility.

$20 is nothing compared to this stupid thing. That’s a $500 scoop. But then next to the carbon tube will be the Prometh billet nozzle holder anyway.

There was a post on a GM centric FB group of HPT users (a help group of sorts) where one individual noted that in his GM diesel application the EGR map in the software was no longer present. People on the group grabbed their pitch forks..

From someone who's worked with HPT, during the transition to the MPVI2 from the orignal MPVI, I can give a little insight into the matter.

Some background. HPT has offered their orignal MPVI in standard and "pro" versions just as they do with the MPVI2. The pro features aren't cheap. So naturally, budget minded folks have resorted to clever methods to get around buying the pro features. It's no secret that HPT is the gold standard in GM factory PCM tuning. They've literally got EVERYTHING available in the editor to tune/delete/etc. On those diesel applications and even gas powered applications, a common thing to do is delete the EGR valve or similar emissions stuff (just like we do with the SAI system). Well, since HPT has defined literally everything for those applications, they simply delete the EGR and then repurpose the ECU input for the EGR system as a wideband input. They'll recalibrate the EGR table in the ECU to match the 5v analog output of an aftermarket Wideband O2 and then be able to datalog the wideband without buying the pro features.

Well, HPT wanted their hard earned money for the pro features, so they removed the ability from the editor for folks to use spare inputs in the ECU for feature that are supposed to be used in the pro feature set. Essentially forcing folks to get the pro features for that type of functionality. I get both parties stance.

So when word got out that HPT had removed that feature set, people here caught wind of it and thought they'd lose functionality. But after I made sense of WHAT was done and deduced the motive for the change, it made sense, and I was able to quell the worry we'd lose that functionality. I highly doubt we'll lose that functionality so long as we keep things chill, and not flaunt any blatant misuse.

Hope that clears it up some.

Yes, that makes perfect sense. I also agree with you as well in regards to the position of both parties. Furthermore, I’m completely in agreement about keeping it chill, low key, and not make it anymore public if you will and lose a good thing.

Thank you. Which is precisely why I queried about the specific mods. Unless that dyno is on LPG? I do believe it was done on a dynapak, which typically are the lowest out dyno's though.

It is one of the most shameful components Toyota managed to install on a Tacoma. Except for the minivan engine in the 3rd Gen.... :boink:
