Lol, I bought it to practice opening and doing BHLM and retrofit. That way if I want to try something new I have a practice piece. :D

An unfortunate addition to minimize door ding damage from all the inconsiderate butt-holes in this area who like to park 18 inches away from the truck when you have deliberately parked so far away in the parking lot that you have to hike to your destination. Plus, my clueless wife who loves to open the rear door of her Subaru with such force as to nearly tear it off the hinges and has been notorious for causing numerous dings in my previous truck...........oh, well, you can't win them all. At least, these are much easier to wash and wax around than all those tiny little chrome letters..........

Thanks. I may of financed two cars in my life, only because 0% interest or some deal, but even those I just paid off in a few months. Not bragging or complaining or lecturing but if I don't have the cash for something, I don't buy it. Yes, I have a home mortgage (smallish) so I'm not perfect, and yes.........well thanks to you clowns I'm using my credit card OT, still pay that sucker off. :spending::boink::bananadance::dancingbacon::kona::jellydance:

Absolutely my friend! The light brackets STL provided were unfortunately bare stainless. So I sanded, primed and painted all brackets black. Every connection made was in-line spliced with a 22-18AWG barrel connector, filled with silicone, crimped, wire-shrink wrapped and black taped for added weatherproofing. As for keeping the wire in place I picked up a couple of those black square zip-tie mounting bases with adhesive bottom from Home Depot...(we'll see how the adhesive holds up in CT winter - 10 come in a pack and I used 6, 3 for each side. not the end of the world to replace, zips and bases are cheap) took a black sharpie to the sides of the adhesive tape (tape was white) so it didn't stick out as much on the back or sides of the truck, couple zip ties to keep everything in place and that was it.

As for the feeds to the rear I ran some outdoor/Sun Res 18/4 Stranded speaker cable I had left over from work, down where the bed meets the cab, zip tied to some existing electrical runs underneath the driver side of the truck, up into the engine bay and made my connections to the switch in the bay. ALWAYS LABEL YOUR CABLES!

Hope this is useful info for anyone looking to do a clean BackRack light install, it was hard for me to find anything installation wise about it online or how others have done it. I'm an electrician so I'm used to winging it and figuring s*** out myself so hope this helps. No one likes a sloppy wiring job!

Looks good! How are everyone installing these wraps on their wheels...did you removed them from the truck first? Just wondering if it’s not too hard to do it without taking the wheels off.
