Hauled a two ATV trailer this weekend and blew out one my rear 2.0 Fox LSC Remote reservoir shocks... Was this my fault? Or was it a defective shock?

There was enough downward force that the aluminum cap snap ring groove completely deformed, snap ring came loose, and allowed the cap to come out of the shock body. Are Fox shocks not rated for towing? If not, maybe I was supposed to go with Kings?

That doesn’t just happen cause you were towing. My guess is you were not bumped properly and you bottomed out hard with the extra tongue weight.

Care to elaborate more on what exactly you were doing when the shock blew?

    Stuff and junk and things...
It looks like it was improperly assembled, the snap ring wasn't fully seated.

With a new seal head and they can be rebuilt.

That's kind of what I was thinking as well. I purchased these from Accutune back in July during which they were doing free revalving on all new shocks and these shocks were revalved. I'm hoping to hear back from them with some good news...

I just got some fox 2.0 LSC remote shocks for the rear and was wondering whether to have the reservoirs on the front or rear side on the shock? or is it better to mount them to the frame?

I have mine mounting toward the front of the vehicle, using the billet clamp provided with the 2.0’s. Just make sure there’s enough clearance of the axle and brake lines when the wheels are stuffed.

You have an IFP shock, your measurements will be different than someone with a resi shock. Counting threads is not the correct way to measure preload.

Is it also possible that he has the incorrect shock for his lift/travel? Can you elaborate on your rear setup and part #?

Go for the 2.5 rears instead of the 2.0’s. You’ll have buyers remorse in the future if you don’t.

The 2.5 rears is rated for 0-1.5 lift. Is that gonna matter? Im already running a 2in lift in the rear of the truck.

Hmm that may be an issue. Well, if you still have your overload spring you can take that off and it would put your rear @ 1.5” and you’d be clear to run the 2.5’s. Unless you tow...

I occasionally tow. Running a snugtop shell with a top rack and various gear in the rear. I will eventually replace the leaf pack which will put the back end up a bit higher. I don't do any serious off roading. The Fox 2.5 model that does offer 2-3in lift isn't carried by wheelwell. Thats why i figured the 2.0s should be fine and I'll be replacing the 5100s.

You just need a different part number you need either [Adjustable compression (883-26-006) or non adjustable (883-24-006)] those are good for 3 inches of lift on the 2.5 rears
