Question about limited trim

I currently own a 2015 TRD OR M/T, but I need to sell it due to a left leg injury that will force me to be in a walking boot for at least 4 months. Unfortunately I'll need to swap out the M/T for an automatic.

I've been looking at the TRD off road and the limited trim in the 3rd gen and I have some questions.

Honestly, I don't go off-roading at all. But I do like having the option of 4wd in case I get into some mud, sand, or whatever else, so 4wd is a must. I don't care about crawl control, and I've never used the locker in my current truck. I do want leather seats, and I do miss having a sunroof, so that would be nice to have as well.

My questions are - is the leather seats that come in the limited trim the same seats that you can get as an option on the off-road? Is the leather a good quality?

Other than suspension, wheel size, crawl control, rear locker, leather seats, sunroof, and the trim bits being painted or chromed, are there any differences between the limited and the off-road?

Also are there any differences between the 2018 and 2019?

 

The limited has different shocks and sway bars for a more road-friendly ride.

 

I looked at the Limited before I bought my Sport. I just liked the looks of the Sport better than all the Chrome. I have the Tech or Premium package that gives you everything that the Limited has. I also bought one with the XSP Package that gives you XD rims and more aggressive tires. I see you are in Orlando so you should have a large choice. I am not sure about the Leather seats being the same but I have had no issues with mine.

 

Yes, same material, however only thing that's leather are the bolsters and it's not full hide leather. Having said that, the seat covers do seems to be of good quality as mine are holding up nicely
after just over a year.

 

Not sure where all the chrome is located on my '17 Limited that some refer to here, but the leather seems fine. It certainly is not "rich Corinthian leather" and seems fine after 2 years.

 

I have leather (premium and tech package) in my OR and it has held up well for me too, no issues. I believe it is the same exact material as the limited trim.

The only difference I noticed is that the limited has leather armrest panels on the doors and dash where the OR and sport premium and tech package leaves the bumpy rubber panels. That and the brown color is only available in limited, but I preferred the black interior anyway.

I really wish Toyota had made those panels match too, just one of my minor gripes about the options and packages.

Love my 16 limited other than the jerky back & forth hunting for gear, automatic. But leathers great, i have 4 wheel when need, real nice ride over road with 18" michlens. Premo sounds, nav. All the bells & more

 

An issue for some, apparently, although I don't know why.

 

Limitied has a bunch of chrome and brown "leather" interior. Its actually called softex and its not real leather. All toyota vehicles use it now, its lighter and more environmentaly friendly.

Its actually more durable and easier to take care of then real leather. I got "leather" interior and sunroof in my sport and i love it. I got the premium and tech package, so i get everything like in limited except for upgraded speakers.

Had issue with passenger seat , but it was a factory defect, not a huge deal. Im in long process with the dealer to get it fixed, a bit annoying.

Like others have mentioned limited has more road friendly suspension and i believe only limited gets upgraded JBL speakers.

Me personally, im not a huge fan of the limited due to brown interior and chrome accent pieces. I really wanted off road but they dont make OR DCSB MT in canada. Went with sport and i love it, no regrets at all.

Edit: can see bumps on the back by the headrest and corner is torn a bit. Thats after dealer tried to fix it twice.

 

I think they added a black leather option for the Limited so you are not stuck with that diarrhea color.

A lot of guys dont like the chrome, some guys black out badges and grill etc so there is no chrome left. I dont mind few pieces of chrome, like badges, think it looks good with black.

But in texas its a different story tho...

I think the questions have been answered, but I am very happy with my Limited. If it were totaled today, I'd but another Limited.

 

I drove my MT Tacoma for four months in a air cast. No big deal except you only.have a few mm of lateral movement.

 

No one can out chrome dodge, GMC tries but dodge wins every time.

For me the limited was the only used truck around, New mirrors, TRD pro headlights, taillights, and grill solved my gripes with the exterior chrome. I’ve always had leather interior VW’s so the premium leather interior was a big sell for me. I have yet to push the truck past it’s OEM off roading capabilities so I couldn’t imagine needing a locker or a different suspension setup yet. She climbs the shuttle roads that we Mountain bike no problem, and she climbs those same roads when there’s 18” of snow, has no problem blasting through the beach and even ventured out into the ocean trying to rescue my buddies Sierra, couldn’t pull him out and after I sank my 4 wheels trying, I just unhooked the tow rope and drove away in 4 low, so I couldn’t imagine needing crawl control.

Trust me, I tried because I want to keep my truck, but the boot is too bulky for me to push the pedal all the way in - I can't even start the truck because it requires the pedal to be pushed practically to the floor. That last inch or so of travel needs plantar flexion which I have zero of.

Unfortunately I do a lot of stop and go city driving, so even if I was able to depress the pedal as far as I needed, I don't think it'd be very safe for me.
