Hi all! I need some ideas... I have all of my military patches attached to the headliner in my truck by Velcro. Since the headliner is a different kind of fabric, the Velcro won’t just stay on its own, so I have the back part of the Velcro strips stuck on the headliner, and then the patch attached to that. The problem is, I live in Texas, where summers are hotter than the surface of the sun, so sometimes the Velcro comes undone. I’m looking for alternative ideas to keeping my patches attached to the headliner. I was thinking of trying to sew them on, but I’m not that skilled. Ideas??

10 minute drying silicone is good for several hundred degrees.

    Rivets?

    Short wood screws?

I’m worried that the silicone will make a huge mess.. I thought about some gorilla glue, but I’m afraid that’ll make a huge mess as well... that may be my best option, though..

That’s what I’m thinking about using.. I’m checking out how much heat super glue can handle

Probably quite a bit but don't quote me. I would just try a small amount in a discrete area and see how a single patch holds up, before going nuts with the rest of them

Yeah, I’ll definitely test first.. I would love to find someone that’s a pro at sewing. That would be my first choice

Understandable. Are you set on having them displayed up top on your headliner?
May be a stupid suggestion but a dash cover wouldn't be an ugly place to have them sewn on to. Just a thought.

Get a thin curved needle and put a stitch in each corner .

Yeah, I’m set on having them up there.. I love the look of it. I’m not a huge fan of dash mats, to be honest. But that definitely wasn’t a stupid suggestion..

Sewing is your best option...take the visor off and bring it to a seamstress. 2P-10 is basically super glue with a tension strength of 4000psi per square inch and bonds just about anything including fingers if your not careful.

Oh, ok. Sounds like some good stuff! Yeah, I really want them to be sewn on, because it’ll be a cleaner look and will definitely hold. I’m going to get a curved needle and stitch the edges, like someone suggested

Yup they definitely aren't for everyone. Good luck on the sewing and post up some pics of the final product!

Thanks!! I sure will! It’ll basically look the same as what I have now, but they won’t fall down in the heat

I use those tiny pinhead pins. You have to slide them in sideways as the headliner is not very deep, but they work and barely noticeable
