My garage is 4 bays and 40 x 50 feet. Previous owner gets credit for the foresight to go deep with that 40 feet. It is a blessing. I could park two medium size vehicles in each bay if necessary.

I have owned it two years and it's still a work in progress. I did build an exercise room. I've added the two post lift, put up steel racks, wired 220 in several locations for air compr, welder, and plasma cutter. I put in a wood stove and am in the process of adding a furnace, hopefully operational by next Winter.

Like everyone else's garage, it looks cluttered, but I know where everything is at. I still have a lot of plans.

Big garage is a blessing (mostly) and a curse. You can really get tempted to become a hoarder, and to take on too many projects. But overall I feel very lucky I can afford it. It's part of why I own older vehicles: no payments; minimal insurance costs.

Jeep. I know. Bought it for a woman, She's gone, the Jeeps still here. 2006 with 16,000 miles. Yeah, I like driving 1st gen Tacomas.


Workout room. Easy to heat up for a Winter workouts. It's inside the gray walls seen in other pics. I boxed some when younger. Still pretty good on the speed bag. Homemade platform. Squat rack below it.






Current wood stove heat, plus I use a 70,000 BTU diesel heater I bought at Menards. Those things put out almost zero smell/smoke (a little when first fired) and are fairly quiet. I used a 4 speed squirrel cage blower, some 2x4s, and cardboard to make a blower/diffuser hanging behind it. Works pretty well to disperse heat. Garage has moderate insulation. Rarely gets below 32 degrees overnight as long as I heat it up at least every 2nd or 3rd day to warm the floor.


Future heat source... I plan to maintain around 45-50 degrees, then use wood from there to about 60 degrees. It's a bit dated, but I got it free. Home-made plenum. Running 12" main trunk and planning 4" drops down from ceiling.

 

Love my shop, thinking about adding another 40x60 on the same lot.
This one has spray foam all around and in floor heat. I'd rather sleep in this place than my home.

I’m up above the Notches in NH and store the GT350 on the first snow storm when they throw the salt down. Typically from Nov to May. The right slider is the outside one and freezes shut for the duration. Kinda a PITA but I’m used to it.

As for fun, nothing can beat it. The FPC is beyond compare and really special IMHO. It’s a “one and done” for me. Avalanche Gray was only offered in ‘16 & ‘17 so I’m pleased w that.

haha! Yup, small world, I am on G6, for quite a while. Love the avalanche color!
I'm not real active as I once was. I was looking to get the 2020GT500 but I decided it's not for me. I owned a 2014 GT500 and did some bolt on mods for 760HP...and well... it just never put the power down, even on drag radials. traded it for the 2017 350 and its soo much more fun to drive...
No doubt the GT500 will be fast... just not what I was hoping for. Anyway, I'm thinking about a C8 z06 when they come.

 

Used my new set of Ryobi tools to build a storage rack for my new set of Ryobi tools.

 

Closed on the house in November, finally got around to organizing the shop.......got some more to accomplish but a pretty good start.

5S is okay in your shop but ain't worth a s*** at work. They take it too far. 5S - some stupid s*** somebody started.

 

Honda Trail 70 my first bike I'm 50 years old I got it when I was 9. The one in the middle identical. What a fun durable little bike.

i guess that depends on your job. If you’re working on tractors or other automobiles then you may be right. If you’re working on aircraft, you need to be very organized and have a strict standard everywhere. One lost tool can kill someone. Any mechanic that has a tool with flight time will have that permanent feeling in their gut because they could have killed everyone on their aircraft.

the only thing I can say is subjective is sorting tools that are most commonly used. In a shadow tool box, sometimes you need to place things where it fits well without wasting space.
