How long did you live with the squeal before paying for a repair?

Still living with the squeal. I heard it was normal.

Are you suggesting that there might exist an updated replacement part that solves this, maybe by a different design?
I haven't looked up the clutch parts in a parts catalog to see if there's any change.

I hear it's called the cricket chirp. It's really annoying when I can hear it louder if it echoes off a wall or something nearby.

There's an upgrade to it I saw on here a few days ago. Pretty beefy and stuff. But $450 bucks........

was thinking of doing the clutch
I figure it's around $400 in parts, DIY
and if this beefy TOB exists, that adds $450 = $850 parts total

just not sure when a clutch job is actually needed
am still running stock one at 130k mi, and have seen clutch kits last up to 300k on other model cars if driven well

edit: $450 for a TOB alone would be crazy

    Drive thru is the worst.

Window open and right next to a wall makes it sound so loud.

    I'm running stock at 143k.

Starting to get this noise too at 115k miles.
On my old car it meant the throw out bearing was going to go bad eventually. Clutch ended up breaking outside of Vegas and had to get towed back to a reasonable shop at home.

You think this is just normal clutch sounds?

YES, THIS! The chirp is extremely annoying, and all I've been reading about fixes of it but they don't seem to last.
