    Evening all:
Thanks to all for the concern, and thanks for the compliment Gary.
Hummm, surfaced, sounds like a much better term for a submariner, they are in deep do do if they cant surface!
I first came on the 60+ thread on P-14 a few months after Ken started it, Ken, Tom, and Jim were the main participants and a few others joined in here and there. Jim got banned :(, so I guess that Ken, Tom, and myself are the "old guard". Bunch of good people on here, both past and present, and it's one of the very few forums that I regularly chat on because of that.

How are you doing Gary, heal up good and then go fishing!
I should be fishing for walleyes starting around Columbus day, also archery hunting. Been playing around with the 66 Impala trying to get the dash lights brighter, just replaced the intake gasket also, time to go over the valve lash, those darn solid lifters always let me know when they need adjustment! Heck, I hardly even drive it anymore but still need to work on it to keep it in shape! :burnrubber:

Carl, within the last week I have had visits with both my primary care physician and cardiologist. Got a thumbs up from both and my light duty orders have expired. Yea!

I have two bass fishing trips scheduled (Thursday and Saturday) next week and hope for some cooler weather. This summer has been hotter than normal. I also have a bass fishing trip to Lake Mitchell scheduled the third week in October. It will be cooler by then.

This lake has largemouth as well as Alabama spotted bass which are similar to Kentucky spotted bass. The spotted bass are like a cross between a largemouth and a smallmouth and fight like crazy.

Please keep me informed of how your fishing goes. I really enjoy your reports. They are always interesting regardless of the number of fish landed.

I did think about the submariners when I made the surfacing comment. Hope I don't get keel hauled for this :rain:

Thanks for the update on your '66 Impala.

Oh darn, I missed one of the "old guard", how could I forget our favorite adopted daughter! --- (just don't do the math)
I think Sue has been on here almost as long as us old timers, she's been a part of the 60+ thread for a long time and a good gal who TRIES to keep us in line.
It's always fun to :boink: her and get an expected :smack:, always good for a laugh and all meant in jest.

    Evening Sue!

Just finished laying some Zoysia sod in my back yard for some bare spots where too much shade killed the St. Augustine.

It is dry as a powder keg here so I will be watering the sod until it is established or we have frequent rain. October is usually very dry here so this may be a long haul.

Lawn turf will be dormant here by November or after the first frost.

Carl, your earlier post about vulgar and out of line posts jogged my memory.

I was a frequent visitor to the Alabama thread but grew tired of so many posts with nonstop four letter words and boasting about how much booze they consumed. It could have been a great resource if it had not been a constant episode of animal house.

Oh well, overall our people here are mature not only in years, but in actions also.

The 60+ thread is about all I read on TW now unless it is to check a tutorial on diy projects for my Tacoma.

Thanks to everyone here that makes me look forward to checking in every day.

Same here Gary, I just stay on here and check on the DIY articles if needed.
I just started going through the car porn thread, I need to start keeping up on that. What a collection of pictures about some awesome muscle cars, most of which I am familiar with. On page 89 there is mention of the "turbonique drag axle", I remember the mechanic who worked on my car at that time mentioning it and showing me an ad in one of the hot rod magazines about it many years ago. I doubt that most people ever knew that something like that even existed, and if it weren't for that mechanic I wouldn't either!

I only go to 3 threads Gary. 60's, Pennsylvania ( for all the local news and people in my area) and the 50's( just lurking there, but after listening to some of the health issues some there have, I feel like a kid again). One of our members river rat 69 got banned because he was always butting heads with the young foul mouthed know it alls in other threads. He could have backed off, but Jim spoke what was on his mind. That's what made him so likeable.

I did not know Jim but believe I would have liked him.

From what I hear about him he lived by the country music song with the line " you have to stand for something or you will fall for anything". My kind of guy.:oldglory:

Thankfully we have Carl to stand in the gap!

    Same as everybody else...
So I cross posted this on the Gym and Fitness forum but I think this may be more appropriate. A few years ago I was an active runner and biker. About 3 years ago I suffered a back injury to my sciatic nerve as the result of a tumble on my bike. So between my jacked up back and a bad knee I'm limited when it comes to exercise. I cant run or bike so I've takin up walking but its boring and winters comin. Any suggestions as to what I can do indoors? I'm thinking free weights, someone suggested yoga. Any ideas? My gut is coming back (I'm 6'1 and used to weigh 300#s) and I wanna nip it in the bud

I have spine problems and I get the most exercise from climbing stairs. We have 8 stairs that go to the second story and I go up and down ten times and it is more exercise than walking. Getting old is tough when injuries are added to the mix.

    Evening all:

Not even close Gary, I respected Jim a lot, there is a vacant recliner on the porch waiting for him that is off limits to anyone else!
He changed his avitar, his first one showed him siting on a tin roof or something over in Nam with a large scoped M-14. He served on the river boats, and whatever he used that weapon for wasn't routine, he never really talked about what he was involved in over there, just that he served on the PBR's, thus his screen name river rat 69.
