K&N cabin filter cleaning

Hi All

Last time I changed the cabin filter I did it with a K&N cabin filter.
How do you guys clean it? do you use the stuff they sell or just rinse it?
Now I'm thinking. If I have to use the stuff they sell. I'm just going to go back to the OEM one. I don't see the point. If I can't just rinse it with plain old water.
When I bought it. I didn't know about the cleaning process. I thought I could just wash it and be done with it.

I just wash it with soap and water. Rinse it and let it dry. Then put it back in.

 

Traditionally, K&N filters actually work very poorly without adding the oil. Not sure about a Cabin Filter though.

 

Are there no instructions with it? Check the website?

I have the K&N Cabin air filter. I dont use the spray after I wash the filter.

 

my mistake. i didnt even know they had cabin filters

 

After I washed and dried, I lightly sprayed a little new car and leather scent from Chemical Guys. Lasts about a month

You HAVE to re oil the cabin filter in order to achieve the high performance cabin filtration as well as the increased air volume. I’ve definitely noticed a deeper growl as well. There’s a few graphs floating around here showing the particulate PPM results, but mostly at the higher end RPMs.

 

Oil a cabin air filter?? Wtf???

 

Do NOT oil a cabin filter. You’re taking about standard engine air filter. Cabin filter does not affect the sound of your vehicle.

 

Of course it does. You MUST oil a cabin filter to trap mosquitos, ionize pollen, and increase air flow.

No worries. Yeah I did not know about it either until somebody posted it here in TW. I am using it for 2 years now. Still looks good as new.

 

ill probably buy one. i would rather wash a filter than buy new and throw the old away.
