Good for you, you've got sense.
Same here. I know full well there are lots of people smarter than me.
Tell you what though, some of the cleverest people I've known have been very unwise.
    Hubris.

I can relate to being disappointed with movie adaptations.
I enjoyed LotR, but some parts were just cartoonish. Why Jackson felt he had to call in Stan Lee for inspiration escapes me.
The Hobbit movies were plain dreadful. Basically one bigass video game.

Lets see...A Bridge Too Far, adapted from the book by Cornelius Ryan...that was very good.
The Narnia movies were quite faithful to the books.
Jeremiah Johnson was adapted from the book Mountain Man...I forget the author. The book is around here somewhere. Faithful in spirit at least, and in some details.
Can't think of any more off the top of my head.

Foundation is very grand, it could be a far better movie series than Star Wars...if done respectfully.
Asimov hit the mark there. The real story is human nature, as always. Addressed truthfully.
In a grand setting, big as you can get.

Star Trek misrepresents human nature and devolves into PC pabulum (Not the original series though.)
Star Wars is full of mumbo jumbo and hokum. And too much reliance on SFX to carry the weak plots. The early ones were by far the best ones.

Asimov got too clever by half in his later work with impossibly convoluted story lines.

Anyway, now that I've irritated any number of people ...
I think you'll thoroughly enjoy Foundation.

Hmm...it's a toughie, isn't it? Say it or not?
Me, I usually try to hold my tongue, because when I do offer advice, I always regret it.

    Good for you though.

Good morning guys. I hope Shad sees it the same way and doesn't get angry with me. I know everyone knows him more than I do and that's why I said something. If need be, it's easier for me to be the sacrificial lamb.
