So I'm looking into respraying my 2012 prerunner TRD sport. I want to respray it to Calvary blue. It is double cab model with the 6.1 foot long bed. I think that would be a good idea or what it just look bad on it 2012?

    Thanks
    Sam

Are you gonna do it in your driveway or are you gonna pay someone to do it?

I don't have the skill to do it on my own, so I will probably wind up having somebody else do it at like a body shop or something. Since I live in Florida black is a bad idea, it gets hot so easily and so quickly. Luckily I the light seating option.

How about a vinyl wrap instead of re-spray? That way if you (or the next owner) don't like it, it's not permanent.

Easily $5k for a decent job. Engine bay will never match...

And even more if done correctly as in taking the truck down to a shell, pulling the engine and stripping engine bay etc so the only way you know it was a different color is by checking the build sheet by vin#.

I didn’t say it was a smart idea, some guys want all the door jams and engine bay to match, that’s when it gets really expensive.

Is your paint bad? Does it actually need paint? Or do you want to do it for the heck of it?

I live in Florida, the seats are that "Sport Fabric (Vinyl/leatherette)", the truck is black. It gets up in the triple digits sometimes where I live, and even when it is 70-80 the interior is 90+. So as for it being "for the heck of it", no it is not, I dun wanna fry when I get in.

Your money no need to explain yourself. Do it and post some pics. Where I live I see a cement first gen and a cav blue first gen a lot. They look great.

Oh I get trying to keep the truck cool in hot weather. I live in AZ and we see temps in the triple digits for pretty much 3 months straight. Living in AZ you have to strategize how and where you park your car. Find shade. Face the front of your car opposite of the sun. Good tint. Good sunshade. But truly unless you park in a garage, you can expect that you're car will always be hot in the summer regardless of car color or interior.

By no means telling you what to do with your truck or money. Just trying to help make sure you've looked at this from all aspects.

But painting a vehicle but for the sole purpose of keeping the truck cool, assuming that's the only reason since it's what you've given, seems like you have other choices.

I am in Florida right now and when I got in the truck a few days ago the overhead temp gauge read 113 so I can imagine a black truck with a vinyl interior. Painting it won’t help with that. You need new seats.

Seats are likely just as expensive. But, you both do bring up good points. Any tips how to keep your truck from becoming a brazen bull aside from repaint and seat replacement?

    Thanks

Get a good sun shade. Tint your windows. Remote start to run the ac while you walk to the car. Or just park in the shade.

Otherwise its inevitable. If it's hot outside your car will be hotter intside. No getting around it.
