im looking to replace my totaled 04, and when I got in to test drive a 2018 yesterday, I noticed the seat feels like it is much shorter than my old one, like maybe a few inches removed that would normally support my legs. Anyone know when they chopped off the seat length? I may go back and look at earlier used truck. Thanks!

Yeah, I’m thinking the change may have been in the last couple of years. I’m going to have to get a new one to replace my 04 anyway, just hope I like it or get used to it! The local service manager at the dealer I use, pointed out the short seats as well. So, it is what it is. Thanks for the reply.

I only test drove a couple 2nd Gens (2007 ACLB V6 MT and 2009 ACLB 4cyl MT) and snagged mine. I would have noticed a difference like that. Both felt about the same. The foam might be a bit more rigid in the 3rd Gens? That could give a different thigh support feel? There is more bolster in the 3rd Gens.

Note that the 2020s will have a power adjustable driver seat. For 2016s through 2019s, there are a few options for seat spacers, mainly in the rear if that is something that might help with comfort? My wife needed some. There are simple round spacers out there and ones customs machine by @7r41lbr34k3r that match the shape of the trim cover.

Has several toy trucks over the years. Never noticed any difference in seating other than they sit a little higher now

When you get your new truck order a pair of these 1" seat spacers from Dennis. Makes a world of difference.

I'm 6' with long legs and I am really starting to hate driving my Tacoma. I've been considering trading it in for something else. But we'll see

Get these front seat front lift spacers if you’re tall.
Makes a huge difference for leg position, comfort and thigh support and may help if you have low back, butt and leg pain.

With long legs, it makes your seat feel like a proper bucket seat and not a flat bench.

    They get mostly rave reviews.

Sold by TW member EasyDoesit in the 3rd gen marketplace. His website is DesertDoesit.com.

Will look into this now. Thanks for the info! In the case of an accident, which Ian highly unlikely, would this be something your insurance goes after you for or do they not look into it enough to notice something like this?

Yeah. I’m 6’0” as well: my right leg goes numb and even cramps up after 45 minutes.

Inserting 1/2-inch worth of washers under the back seat anchors has helped. Still ain’t the most comfortable seat by any means. As the OP notes, the seat seems to lack thigh support.

    A few.
I never understood putting spacers under the back seat brackets. The problem is the front of the seat is too low in relation to other vehicles and putting spacers in the back just makes the problem worse. Like someone is trying to tip you out of a chair. Go sit in a ford ranger, chevy Colorado, or any full size truck and then get back in your Tacoma. You will notice the difference. These spacers here would be the ticket.

Funny, this is the first vehicle I've had in a long time that doesn't make my legs go to sleep.

Just went and came back from vacation, 5 hours driving each way without trouble.

    I'm 5'11" but only weigh 137lbs

I think it is a case of each to his own. I am 6'1 and think Tacoma seats are some of the most comfortable I have ever sat it.

That’s my thought, too. But, contrary to what I thought, I was advised on here to raise the back of the seat. It helped some.

I wish I could take the seats out of a 4 runner and swap em into the taco. They are way more comfortable and feel like an actual bucket seat with support instead of the taco seat with hardly any support and I feel like I'm being tipped forward on a drive. The front of the seat definitely needs to be put up higher.

These spaces saved my back! I installed them on my pro and it made me fall in love with my truck all over again.

Are there spacers for the rear mounts too, or just the front?
